getting a decent volume outta a mac book pro with in ear headphones....
I am struggling to get a decent volume outta my Mac installed with Yosemite. Sure plug it out via a sound card into speakers no problem but when i am on the road with just a pair of in ear headphones plugged in I cannot get the vol out I want.......I tend to mix using BoB katz K14 as a level and then during master boost it up to my required vol......but in reason the only way i can get decent volume with in ear head phones is to boot everything up into the edge of the red zone......any thoughts on how to boost the volume output on a macbook pro?

Yes, of course. The only thing you have to do is to select "BoomDevice" in Reason's Audio Prefs instead of Built-In Output.cheokeh wrote:Yea I did see Boom.....does it work? is it compatible with Reason.....? i really need some kick ass volume in my ears while keeping my levels all K14
BTW, I just double-ckecked and aligned Boom to the same audio level as my Mac's volume control at maximum position. I think there's a lot left for boosting !

bought and download boom.......i can see that it works for iTunes and you can drop audio files on it to boost volume, but i cannot see how to boost the volume in Reason......If i go to Reason prefs......I only get the option of built in output of sound flower (which i have installed).....any help would be greatly appreciated.....

Do you see the boom icon in the menu bar?

yes see it.....when i have reason open and i click on the icon it gives me the option to "drag songs and videos here" (not sure how you might do that with reason running) Then there is the know more here option which if i click is a link through to the developers site.....I totally see how it might work with iTunes or an audio file on your desktop......but cannot see how to use it with Reason running to boost headphone volume.......anyone know how to do this?

Hmmm, perhaps you should restart your Mac for the driver to operate? I've no idea, I installed Boom years ago and it worked perfect so far.
yep boom works great with boosting iTunes or tracks on your desktop.....however i cannot see how it can boost overall volume of a reason file as you are working on it......anuone have any ideas or know how this is achieved?
BTW I am on a mac book pro running Yosemite 10.10.3
there is no option to select it as a reason output instead of "built in output" as suggested above.....
