Having a brain fart, here...... probably an easy answer but I can't think of it.
Let's say I imported a song from another program (that I find much easier to compose traditional instruments on) into Reason.
Reason sucks up the standard MIDI 1 file just fine.
I make a jillion changes and tweaks to the rack and mixer.
All is well. It sounds great.
Now... can I go back to my easy-peasy composing program, expand the song a whole bunch and re-suck it into the same Reason setup? You know, just change the sequencer and not the rack or mix?
Danke.
Update a MIDI import?

When ever you bring MIDI into Reason it always creates a new ID8 to go with every track in the MIDI file. There's no way around that.
So here's the best you can do:
Open you destination project.
Go to File->New and make another new document next to it.
In the new document import the changed MIDI.
Select and Copy the note lane.
Go back to the original, and delete the note lane you want to replace.
Place the playback head where you want the imported track to go, and Paste.
Hopefully one day, we'll be able to import MIDI notes into existing tracks.

I think Tronam, during the Reason 8 beta, said that Propellerhead ran out of time to do that for the Reason 8 release, but that they were going to get it done in an 8.x update.ScuzzyEye wrote: Hopefully one day, we'll be able to import MIDI notes into existing tracks.
So, this year sometime?

Thanks.
The 2nd song cut and paste method was my own "solution", too. I was hoping there might be better.
Oh well, time to do it more and develop my cut and paste skill-level.
