[April Fool's Day] Propellerhead Software gets sold to Apple Inc. !

To make sure nobody is confused - of course it's only an April Fool's Day Hoax Hopefully

The rumours became true: Propellerheads have sold their company to Apple! The whole deal will be performed in the further year with more changes to come for all parties.

CEO Ernst Nathorst-Böös called this a "logical (sic!) step in the history of Propellerhead Software". The two big players in music production would bundle their energies and find new ways to lessen the distance to market leader ProTools.

Technical changes will also apply to Apples flagship software Logic. They plan to remove VST support because it's an outdated format which gets too less support from third party developers (only from niche companies like Native Instruments or Waves) and is also too buggy in development. In exchange, Apple products will further integrate the highly succesful Rack Extension format, which overtook VST massively in the last couple years. They also hope for Steinberg, which indicated to jump upon the same RE train and drop VST as plugin format.

finally Logic will remove that crappy VST support - sounds much more interesting now. This was also the last incentive I needed to buy into the Apple family.

By the way, there are rumors that Ernst took these massive changes as a motivation to not only dye his hair but also to undergo some plastic surgery (where needed). Much more fitting smile if you ask me.
