Discover ???
Im having troule finding clear info on it (but I did not look hard)
I tought at first it was something like your complete project was uploaded and people all collaborated on the .reason file.
But reading people talking here now it seem like a audio thing only.
If people collaborate on the .reason file, well I can see the purpose, its at least interesting to have acess to the techniques used in producing the song, share on it ect, but if we have access to the audio only, what a pointless waste of resources.

It's only a beta still; more features to come I'm sure.mind2069 wrote:Im having troule finding clear info on it (but I did not look hard)

I do wonder if it's possible to Drop a stereo mix, and then drop each track as collaboration files of that Stereo Mix? Or are we not allowed to "contribute" on our own drops?

Good example of doing Discover right:
Bra1nbox:
http://phead.mu/s/jC8Yq77J
(120 plays)
HeyGoAudio:
http://phead.mu/s/aBeZCpD6
(843 plays)
Adam Fielding:
http://phead.mu/s/RzqQTvEh
(638 plays)
Lunesis:
http://phead.mu/s/js1kYfnR
(272 plays)
Is Discover a pointless waste of resources? I think not.

Discover is a game-changer!
The audio-only thing protects the original ideas slightly, so I can see why Propellerhead have taken that route to-be-honest. Great move. That and they don't seem to be keen on sharing MIDI or instruments between Figure and Reason (which is annoying) . It was just the simplest and fastest way to get social.. I utterly LOVE IT!!
I admin for @FigureAddicted
Some great people over there:

(That's where the collab above started!

I don't have a problem with the audio-only, but would greatly prefer individual tracks instead of a mix-down.HeyGoAudio wrote:Discover is a game-changer! D.
I think it's a nice resource to have if you if you're feeling a little dry, creatively speaking.
I've dropped a few loops over there but they do get buried quickly. However, there's often some nice stuff to bend to your will and make something a bit more fleshed out.
It's fun and I hope the people who have dropped something get some satisfaction out of seeing their work developed. I certainly get satisfaction with working with their submissions.

I think you should read the Discover's terms of service. Its clearly specified that you give the right to people to do anything they want, even money with the stuff you upload on discover.HeyGoAudio wrote:Discover is a game-changer! The audio-only thing protects the original ideas slightly,
"3.1 You retain all of your ownership rights in the Content that you create or upload to the Sharing Services. However, by uploading Content you grant every user and Propellerhead a non-exclusive right to use your music (with the right to sublicense). The license includes a right to copy, reproduce, communicate to the public, distribute, prepare derivative works of, modify and adapt your Content – even for commercial purposes – in any and all media and distribution methods and to the extent permitted by the Terms of Service. The license applies worldwide and is royalty-free and irrevocable.
Because we offer an open music sharing service, we ask for broad rights, so we can publish files on the Internet, and so others can freely use the stuff that is posted. In kind, you’ll to be able to use everything you find on the service.
Know that even though you are granting broad rights to all, you always maintain ownership of your stuff.
We don’t intend to sell your content. Other people on the service might end up doing something successful with content they find and even make money from it (and so could you for that matter).

This whole thing really woke me up to Discover and all the amazing things it can achieve.
Thank you!

Thanks! I got a lot of pleasure playing with that, overlaying some traditional folk instrumentation on the sparse beauty of the original.
I'll be sure to check out the YouTube channel.

Discover, without any doubt in my mind is complete and utter rubbish. No "serious" thought was placed into this and it really, REALLY looks like it was cobbled together over a weekend. Maybe someone at PH HQ feels that copying Avid(go figure) is the way to go.
Why would you work hard on a track, to then just upload it to some collaboration service where you loose ALL meaningful ownership?

Ask the people who uploaded tracks.. If its not for you thats fine but why shit all over something because of that?Miles Static wrote:Why would you work hard on a track, to then just upload it to some collaboration service where you loose ALL meaningful ownership?
