Wait – you're suggesting that even with the sound engine off it still sounds shit, just less so now?!?

Worth noting they don't actually qualify HOW much less…

It's like a bunch of juvenile has taken of Reason Studios, in the marketing department at least.

You can see it in the new web design and now even with slogan like this.

Don't worry, I'm not offended, it's just lame.

That's probably what I would have done too. If they don't appeal to the youngest generation they are potentially missing out on a huge new market.
There are probably not a lot of us old geezers left that don't already know about Reason, so why target ads to us?

I think it's likely very smart of them to make stuff folks my age call "lame".

I was refering juvenile as kindergarden stuff, even when I was 20 years old, looking for a daw, having a statement like "Sound Less Sh*t" would not have been appealing. I thinks there's a minimum of professionalism you expect with a major company, but what the heck, nothing to loose sleep over, if Reason Studios are happy with it, so be it.

But I still have a suggestion for them for their next campaign "Sounds less pipi caca gaga googoo"

Some confusion here between young and juvenile. I don’t recall young people having a juvenile attitude towards music when I was young. If anything young people take music and whatever micro genre they are into way too seriously. A headline like “be less shit” probably appeals much more to old farts like myself who are way past caring. Get ready for a fresh wave of age 40+ new Reason users. Any 18 year olds are probably banging out something amazing on the worst piece of kit ever while the oldies are dreaming about some obscure boutique instrument, vintage compressors and building their dream studio. It’s boy racers in crappy looking cars with big spoilers verses grey mid life crisis ponytails in sports cars, ha ha.

Is there an AI “Reason sound” button that will write/mix/master now?!

I remember once, when I was 24, that an FL fruitcake tried challenging me by shit-talking Reason. One of my points was, that it's not about the size of your weapon, but how you use it.
Keep it up, Reason Studs! : D
You may be small, but fuk'em all!
As for people complaining, "STFU, and use the software! It's great!"

Anyways, being 34, it's obviously not how the generations surrounding me 'think', IMO, but it's rather an Internet-culture thing.
While I hate when people harass and stress each-other out, and then say a cheap excuse of 'dun take teh internetz srsly' ~ at the same time, I think it's a positive thing that the online world is all fun and games, with people goofing around.

I think, RS try new things, they adapt, they see the potential of online marketing, and also understand that the internet is the butt of humanity. (Oh hey, talk about sound less shit and old f...s : D)

When marketing online, you're not talking to and advertising to Sir Prof. Dr. Khlav Kalash Scheissberg (yes, not a real name, but partly a Simpsons thing), but instead to everyone whomever goes online.

I think, they're plenty serious, and dare to be different. There's more than enough professionalism.

Saying, Reason is the best DAW and that they will fulfill and satisfy all your wishes, just doesn't cut it anymore.
People are used to common marketing talk being full of shit.

So saying sound less shit, is just right.
It may provoke, that your music is shit, and you can do better with it.
It may respond to whiners about their shitty music, offering a solution.
It may shit-talk the other DAWs, and tell you that Reason is the shit!

Okay, that's enough of me talking shit. Time to flush~

We'll see what the future brings. I also get arrythmia, weird >140 / <60 rates (too high and too low), pulse going down to 40. It's just a mess.

I was born half-dead, so I'm happy to live as long as I will.

As for strengtheners... : D Gotta stay away from man's best friend (beer, wine, champagne, etc.) : )

Thanks, I guess x D

But what makes me sound like 60? : D

In other places, people mistook me for a teen or twentier for being all cheerful and playful.
Not acting 34 is kind of worrying. : D But then again, the 30's are a transitioning age towards the boring serious adult.
And then the 60s will be the second childhood! x D (Depending on my heart, lol. - Hey, that Hawking guy lived super long, too!)

Then again, I'm also rambly, I get nerdy, and can be eccentric. So my age can be a mystery.

Okay, it's probably my wisdom, experience and genius. Right? RIGHT?

If you want to sound corporate, by all means speak “professionally”.
If you want to sell music products, speak like music makers.
It’s like saying one needs to wear a suit to be taken seriously. Not in the music world for some time now…

I guess "Sound Like You" wasn't cutting it.
Perhaps "sound like you" ended up sounding like shit. So this is the next logical step of the progression.
Players are to MIDI what synthesizers are to waveforms.

I doubt any music maker would get enthusiastic with something in the line of "sounf less shit", I has nothing to do with corporate/artist.

How is Reason able to make you "sound less shit" than any other daws, If you think about it 2 seconds, it a completely stupid statement.

What musicians want is :

Functionaly / workflow
Stable daw with good performance, no crash.
Lowest cost possible

Nowadays, nearly any daw can sound good, it's about personnal workflow preferences

That's what Reasons offers, a unique workflow with and a added value to use devices as vst's (remain wit the reason daw or use another), not sounding less shit.

Try this, next time you are in a daw/music discussion and someone ask you why do you use Reason, just answer : Because it sounds less shit.

I see it as just being relatable and something people say. I don't see it as a comparison to other DAWs.

"How can I make my vocals sound less shit?" is something I hear people ask.

Me seeing an ad claiming Reason can help you make hit songs or sound less shit is pretty much all the same to me, but the latter is fun and maybe more relatable.

I still think they should follow it up with my idea for a CRAPRE No.2 ad to "sound more shit" :)

I know some will defend Reason whatever crappy shit they do.

If your vocal sounds less shit it's because you know how to use EQ, compression, deesser, reverb, delay, chorus, doubling/panning and many more techniques and most of all, a good recording and vocal performance with proper autotune if needed, it has nothing to do with Reason.

Of course, Reason contains most of these tools but most daws also do. Most use a multitude of external VST's

As I said, I like the reason workflow, I love the combinator and it wont change anything, I just think it's a stupid statement to be made regarding a DAW.

Yeah you can write a song with any DAW, you can make a hit with any DAW, you can "sound like you" with any DAW... Some people will read way too far into things no matter what. I just like Reason for what it is and the ads don't affect me.
