[SOLVED] Reason no longer receiving audio from Scarlett 18i20

I've just upgraded my system from an ancient iMac to an M1 Mac mini and bringing over the Scarlett 18i20 to connect to the new system, but I can't get Reason to receive any audio! It's sending audio out, no problem, and if I launch Garageband it's receiving audio from the Scarlett with no trouble.

I've checked Reason is up to date, I can't believe I would have to update the Scarlett firmware as CoreAudio takes care of much of that (and the fact that it's working with Garageband seems like there's no problem there, but I will check...)

But I'm really stumped. I've swapped the USB cable and rebooted multiple times. I'm not sure what to try next, I really can't believe it's actually happening as it's so basic.

The LEDs on the Scarlett are moving in response to audio but there's just a flatline in Reason.

Installed the Focusrite MixControl and that's all working perfectly - the inputs are receiving audio on the expected channels etc but still nothing in Reason.

Try this: go to Rack View and in the Hardware Interface and make sure Audio I/O (and More Audio I/O if necessary) is showing. If you don't see metering there on the inputs with signal, check the Audio Tab under Preferences, specifically "Active Input Channels". You may need to activate channels past the first two.
For example, if you're sending a signal to inputs 3/4 and see metering on the hardware, you SHOULD also see metering in Reason on Inputs 3/4 on the Audio I/O tab in the Hardware Interface at the top of the rack.

That's all looking correct to me. Lots of inputs available. Reason looks happy, but no sound.

Yelling into the mic on Input 3 - the MixControl shows level, but nothing on the Big Meter for input 3.

It's incredibly bizarre. There's not much to hooking this up. If it's configured in the Audio Settings then the audio should be coming through. I feel like I'm in an alternate reality!

Installed an OS update (because why not) still no joy. It's getting a bit depressing to be honest. I can't believe I'm just dead in the water.

I remember Apple to have some additional "privacy" setting which has to be enabled for any app that shall be able to record audio. I think that's the missing puzzle piece here:

This is something that macOS does automatically the first time an app tries to access audio inputs, it´s not something that the app does itself. I have seen this alert come up for Reason many times after reinstall.

Perhaps I missed it, or thought “No need for the mic, I’ve got my trusted 18i20!”

So glad it’s fixed, I thought I was going crazy for a moment!
