I have reason 12 reaching max dsp but when I open the windows task manager, the CPU is at about 40% with plenty of memory left.
I there a setting in windows where I can allow reason to take 100% of the cpu
Or is the cpu/dsp relation not 1/1
Reason 12 CPU / DSP
DSP is not CPU. This video explains it pretty nicely:
I get but but to be sure.
If my current cpu is at 35% and dsp is maxed out (my buffer suze is maxed out at 4096 samples)
Since I have plenty of cpu left, would a faster computer make a difference? Do I need a soundcard with a even bigger buffer size?
Agreed, and those 35% might also not be accurate.
If on preferences he has reason in single CPU mode, in fact the cpu core allotted to reason might be at 80+%.
I had the same problems trying to understand this when my top of the range Macbook was struggling with certain small projects. From what I gathered its about getting the fastest turbo boost speed and not getting cheap components as they can add latency. This will help give you an idea of what to buy , or what parts you should upgrade.
Would be nice to have a benchmark post stuck to the top of the forum , so hopefully we can get more systems tested.
