is R12 going to migrate perpetual license holders to the companion app? i expect it may be so
Good question. I have R12 beta authorised using "old system" with Authorizer and Code Meter so maybe nothing will change for now. I also remember there was some mention of RS looking into moving all user accounts into new Companion system and making offline authorizations with it possible.

It's fine if them move us all to the companion app and implement offline authorisation.
It's not fine if they move us all to the companion app and then vaguely promise offline authorisation at some point in the future ("We're working on it").

Not yet, but we do want to at some point. As others have pointed out, we have to fix offline for R+ first.

2 days now. Question, do any vst samplers allow you to directly record into them? was wondering because it's functionality I'd like in the rack plug-in for their samplable devices.

I have no idea what the Companion App is or does. Is the eventuality that the option for offline authorization of a PC or IK will disappear?

Don't forget to do it again ;)
Although it's not making me feel excited

I'm still holding out hope that they announce something that will make me want to upgrade.
They will, they'll add joining midi notes. 🤣

It was only a matter of time before someone posted that song in this thread. 😂

Combi2 and HD are keeping me hype for R12. Plus the inevitability of this forum exploding in megaton fury. Popcorn and beers for Wednesday evening

Yes me too. They'd better have some good presets shipping with it on release day though, and Mimic needs way more presets to show it off of course. As others have said I'm hoping that they've maybe kept back one or two surprises, particularly for the long time users of the DAW. Talking of presets you'd also hope for some updated instrument and effect presets for the legacy tools (particularly if overhauls aren't forthcoming).

It has replaced Authorizer (and the account pages) for Reason+ subs. It handles all the authorisation for REs in a much smoother and better way. It handles things like missing devices in Reason in an improved way. It also where all of the sound packs are delivered. Over time it will likely do lots more things too. And no, it doesn't have any implication for offline authorisation at all.

Companion is seriously a killer feature of R+. On top of streamlining installation and serving up the sample packs, it pretty much handles all the maintenance stuff you do via the website (like updating, and installing REs etc). It's really great.

Since it includes updaters for Rack Extensions I expect so too. Makes no sense to maintain two helper programs.
The next logical step would be to put the RE shop in the companion app as well, maybe that's why the shop doesn't get any attention. You heard it first here guys ;)
Nope, I called it first when companion was announced.

The only thing missing is the integration of the Rack Extension Shop.

Wouldn't we normally have a fair idea of what is in the upgrade at this point, and know if we want to race out and buy it ASAP? I know nothing about the new combinator and it drops tomorrow or there abouts, I find that unusual.

Just wonder, have anyone in the beta tested Reason 12 without a dedicated video card ?
I mean is there any CPU/Memory drawbacks between Reason 10/11 vs Reason 12 so far ?

Thanks

yup, I concur, it's really great. I'm checking it out due to the 333 offer and I hope the features come to the perpetual licence as well as I'm going to miss them.
