Hello again peeps,

I have a Novation Launchkey 25 keyboard, and the low volume/velocity coming from it is so low, it drives me nuts.

The keyboard has normal piano keys, but also has square pads which have a much louder volume. I have to really hammer my keyboard to get even close to the sound of those pads, and the resulting velocity, playing normaly is between 32 and 64. Is there a way to globally make this higher, so I can hear myself play above other instruments on the Sequencer?

I see FL Studio has Midi Settings where this can be adjusted, and Ableton has something too... Is there a way around this, other than dragging the volume for the instrument to max and hammering the keyboard?

Thanks,
Mark.

Just for reference for anyone else having this issue with similar hardware, the feature in question is called Velocity Curve. Knowing this name will help you with online searches ;)

hah
unfortunately I have mk1, which means I am out of luck with this issue, it seems, unless there is a plugin to increase velocity for all notes?

I have found a VST plugin alled VeloScaler which should do exactly what I'd like, increase incoming velocity so it can match the percieved volume of played back tracks. I have put the dll files into the VSTPlugins folder and it shows as an instrument in Reason, so I can drop it on another midi instrument on the sequencer, but cannot seem to make it produce any sound at all.. Here it is... anyone have any success using this?

It ouputs MIDI so won't work in Reason. There is a RE that should do the job:

If you're okay with fixed velocity, this can be done with the RPG-8 utility, see here:

AHA, this works well, thank you! If you want it to affect the velocity on the sequencer, you must choose DIRECT RECORD. Then it is not merely amplifying the low velocity notes on the sequencer, but recording high velocity notes. Great! It's a bit of a pain to apply this player to every track I create for keyboard input, so It would be bettter if Reason had this ability built in, or even to be able to apply this Midi Compressor to every track's input velocity - ie to apply this to a control surface instead of to every track.

Thanks, but I would want to be able to control the velocity by the way I play too...

Cheers folks,
Mark
