Yes, I am/was on an older version of Reason and will now upgrade due to the new features in 9.5

I used to think upgrades were expensive until I remembered reason was an unlimited amount of rack devices to mix and match and every purchase was another synth to abuse in a bunch of configs.

Raveshaper wrote:This poll needs a third option that says "I upgraded to version 9, but not because of VST". I upgraded to collaborate, not because of this announcement. And because it's a free point update for me because of that, I really don't have a lot of involvement in that decision of whether to invest in 9.5 or not.
You're upgrading because 9.x has things you need to collaborate with others? Then vote YES. I'm reluctant to modify poll options at this point because it may reset the poll, and it's been difficult getting people to participate (or, there aren't that many users here on pre-9.x)...

Definitely for me. I had not seen anything in 9.2 that convinced me but the prospect of having VSTs in addition to the other nice things in version 9 clinched it for me. I don't yet have any great VSTs but there are new things out there I'd like to have access to, so when 9.5 comes out it's really the old adage of eating our cake and still having it.

Chiming in late with a "No" for me.

The 9.5 update adding VST support is huge when it comes the history of Reason choosing to do their own thing and develop the "Rack Extension" platform over VST's. The Plug-in delay compensation was actually a feature I really wanted when talk about version 9 coming out.

Honestly, I just don't see myself upgrading anymore. I spent some time getting to know the "in the box" synths, have a couple good rack extensions (GQ-7, Chenille, Re2A, PX7, Ozone, Decimort 2, MP5, and some others), plenty of refills, the shop still has a few other gems I think I could carry in my arsenal like the Antidote which I'm picking up in a few days and The Legend later on down the road. I'm happy on 8.3. Working with the tools I have is enough, and if I think it isn't, well then the problem is within my performance skills, musical knowledge, and creativity.

I'm still going to be keeping up with Reason's progress. Hoping the sequencer gets a nice revamp in the future. But I'm comfortable with where I'm at and have learned to be proficient in my current domain.

I saw that Daniel Kandi video of him making the trance song in Reason 2.5. Toro y Moi's "Causers of This" was made in Reason 3. Plenty of examples have taught me that everything I need is in front of me, I just need to get better  One of my buddies just released a juke EP made entirely in Reason 5 and mastered it himself with Ozone 7. The project was dope as hell! If anything I'll be learning to master better in Reason or down the line gett Ozone 7 and use it in standalone mode.
