I couldn't live without this. I don't know what it's called, something like "powder brush" or "blush brush", it's sold in cosmetics stores (dirt cheap, often given for free when purchasing something else) and it's very efficient for surface dust, particularly keyboards. It can even be cleaned in soapy water. It's very soft to the touch and doesn't cause static or scratches.

I don't think that on an acoustic guitar it makes a whole lot of difference to tonality although if the thing is absolutely caked then of course you will start to notice it particularly when recording, if it starts to mess with your mic. But what quite definitely does make a huge difference is if the strings are a bit dirty/grimy - it can start to lose a lot of the harmonic content.Stranger. wrote: I often wondered how well an acoustic guitar,or any open bodied instrument-- performs, after a "good clean out"-- does it change the sounding character much in your opinions?

Sounds like you need an air filter. I recently bought the Allergy Pro and added in a carbon filter. Got it at Costco and I'm breathing some fresh air now, let me tell you!
Once you've thoroughly dusted your room/space the only dust flying around will end up in the filter.
Godspeed.

I would suggest ripping off all of your skin. Most of the dust in our homes is actually dead skin cells.
Just a decorator's paintbrush will do the job. Played once at a club where the soundguy was chatting to us as he lovingly dusted the mixer and decks with a paintbrush. Now we both have studio paintbrushes ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Well, its spring. I guess everyone's shedding their winter coats.challism wrote:I would suggest ripping off all of your skin. Most of the dust in our homes is actually dead skin cells.

It seems guitars get better and more resonant with age as the wood gets dryer and dust settles into the pores, cracks, and joints.
