Hey all,
I'm keen to know if anyone has experience with DisplayLink drivers and a three-monitor setup on MacOS.
Since I got an M2 Mac mini I've really been missing having a third monitor as it only supports two natively. I've been looking into solutions and a while back I came across the Satechi Triple 4K display dock. Now it's significantly marked down for Black Friday and my finger is on the button.
I know I need a DisplayLink enabled dock or adapter and DisplayLink drivers, however, is the Triple 4K dock really necessary if I'm already running two displays natively via the Mac? Can I just get a single DisplayLink enabled adaptor and run the third display through that or is there some witchcraft at work that means if I intend to run three displays, I need a dock attached capable of handling three.
It's a silly amount of money for a third display but the workflow is just too good. Plus, that's good dollar I can throw at some REs if I don't need it.
Cheers

It sounds like you're exploring a good solution! You can absolutely run a third display through a single DisplayLink-enabled adapter if you already have two displays connected natively. The Triple 4K dock isn't strictly necessary unless you're looking for a more seamless setup or need additional ports and features it offers. A DisplayLink adapter should handle the third display, but ensure it's compatible with your MacOS version. If the dock is only for convenience, you might be able to save by opting for a more affordable adapter and still enjoy a three-monitor setup.

Thanks abuislam, this is good to know. In the end the Satechi dock was reduced by 50% so it was a great deal, and extra USBs never go amiss!
