So I've been trailing Ableton on my new laptop along with Reason and the plugin and though annoying at first I'm starting to get around the workspace finding out what stuff does and I'm actually well on my way to finishing 2 tracks.
I never really got what people went on about with the sequencer in Reason being not great but I get it now. I'm scratching the surface in workflow abilities of Ableton but so far despite the learning curve I can see how much easier it is to create tracks
Hopefully R13 is comparable.

Ableton sequencer is great! And so is the workflow and even better with the RRP. Wait till you come back to reason standalone and you'll fall in love with it all over again. Rinse and repeat.

I have both Reason 12 with the former suite additions and Ableton Live Suite 10.

Sometimes I use Reason to create a track, and sometimes Ableton depending on my mood, and not so much on my needs at that moment. Both have their strengths and for me not so much weakness…….

I also use the combo of them too, but I fall back on Predator 2 from Rob Papen often too……. I also have Massive, but I find Predator 2 more inspiring, although Massive has good presets and sounds too.

I also have Ableton’s Push 2 and together with Live you can create tracks very fast. I also use the Push2 for Reason with the Retouch Control PusheR2 software. But native with Live the Push2 is at it’s best.

For the sake of workflow and limiting options I consider buying the Akai Force to make music with. I can take it anywhere and record and work on my music. But I’m not sure yet………

I want to just say that reason also has Ctrl+G on the mixer, FYI

All DAWs are annoying at the start. I think Ableton (and/or Bitwig) and Reason complement each other nicely - they’re very different visually and in their layout and sequencing, but they’re both very sound-design driven, and both born out of electronic music culture.

Still a miss though. Maybe R14. Let's pray.

If you want something now Brother Ableton 12 listens. He even forgave me for all the hate and mockery I had for that ugly grey soulless and flat portal. Now it's the Renaissance. Lots of themes I can change on the fly 🙏

Bit of an update: I am still getting the hang of Ableton and am adjusting to the flat blandness of the GUI (still not a fan) but am enjoying learning it.
The thing that is striking me the most is that I got a free code for Lite from a friend who bought some hardware so have used that to upgrade to Live (standard) for £189 which is cheaper than the £200 upgrade for R13. I got an entire DAW with all the instruments, effects, samples, midi tools etc still with change left over.
RS needs to rethink it's business model because the competition is turning heads of loyal customers.

I'm an avid user of live for more than two decades now bro. It's even better with the live enhancement suite, though many of the features that that provided have been implemented into the program with subsequent updates. But still, can't live without Buplicate 😂 i have programmed a macro button on the stream deck to have Buplicate in reason as well 👍

It's a thing on the Live Enhancement Suite (LES) (enhancementsuite.me) where you have Ctrl D it duplicates whatever you select. Buplicate (Ctrl B when using LES) instead octuplicates that thing (8 times) which is great for example when arranging or editing midi or whatever. I created the macro for it to duplicate 8 times with one button in Reason to get the same functionality 👍

Edit: i see they've discontinued it but it still works on 12. At least the things i use it the most for which is buplicate, close all windows, and pan without keyboard
