Finally got the download on my account. I hear that the Push 2 will be updated to incorporate as many features from Push 3 as possible, including the full session view and...I'm hoping...clip/note editing. I'm about to find out! Anyone else got this arriving in their account today? And did anyone else try the beta? I love the generative MIDI functions!

Yep now downloaded and installed.

I did not try the beta as once accepted I realised my pc had too old a processor to run it. Was content to watch content online and upgraded my pc in Jan so first try will be later today after work.

I'll be interested in your views on the new browser. It seems to be somewhat splitting the crowd.

I'll be waiting for a sale and for them to have ironed out any blatant bugs before I consider upgrading. It's hard to justify as I really only use it for idea sketching in the session view but I'll end up buying it eventually.

I very briefly looked when I installed it. Gotta be honest and say I had a bit of a negative shock when I clicked on plugins and a big list appeared no longer arranged by developer but watching this video has given me an idea of the benefits after a bit of setup. Will know more once I use it.

Yeah mostly i like the browser! I can see how it's fiddly for browsing plugins but the upside is that sound packs and the core library are actually properly searchable now. The only thing I can't seem to do atm, and maybe this just a limitation of the Push 2, is browse by tags from the hardware. This is still miles easier/better on the Maschine Mk3.

But yeah so far so good. I like the visual overhaul. Mixer in arrange view is great, and simultaneous clip and effect view is also nice.

Loving it. Was using the beta for a while. Downloaded the official version yesterday and installed today. Solid release by Ableton.

The browser is not bad at all. At first i didn't like it but once I've adjusted it to fit my workflow, it is awesome.

Was initially concerned about losing the developer name in the Plugins tab but I clicked on the "instruments" filter and added that to shortcuts using the little + button. Then did the same for "effects". So two new short cuts were created on the left which I renamed VST3 Instruments & VST3 Effects. This is actually better than having them sorted by developer so happy with that.

I have Ableton 11, that I use sometimes mainly for playing with m4l creations (some are really good)
When 12 was announced, I was quite eager to try the beta because of the midi tools and generative/randomizing abilities this new version brings to the table.
Sadly, my old MacBook Pro is not allowed to run the minimal MacOs version that Live 12 demands… so no upgrade for me

How do you like Ableton and how would you compare it to Reason? I’m a user of 3 DAW. Reason is my fav, then FL , then Logic but thinking about learning Ableton too

Beware of AVX2 support for windows machines…. Without it, live 12 won’t run!

Check it here for Intel: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/e ... ssors.html

Oh well, so no cake for my AMD Phenom II X6. I think I'll have to upgrade that system sometime soon as more and more stuff depends on AVX2 or SSE4.2.

I have been enjoying reading the Live forum about all the bugs and issues. Good times. At least they did not charge for it.

I thought I read it was a free update. Thanks for the info. I have Live but do not plan to upgrade ATM. I hardly ever open it. These days I mostly use Reason and Studio One.

$183 ~ to be more precise, if you preordered like I did. Very happy with the workflow improvements. No bugs or issues either 👍

If your PC is OK with the AVX2 instruction set, there is no problem I guess. I did not preorder as I have other bills to pay. For what I have seen I like it, and Push2 is getting updated too in 12, so that is nice!!!

I have no complaints about the software whatsoever. Many do, as apparently it was not clear what would work or not.

Hadn't heard of that before 🤷‍♂️ but mine obviously supports it. Is this a thing that only machines of a certain age can handle?

Yeah I realised this when I downloaded the beta and my old 3 series i5 was no longer supported. Not sure how well they advertised this but guessing it will catch a few people out.

Thankfully I got my new PC prior to live 12 so all good. I am really enjoying live 12 and thankfully not encountered any bugs personally.

btw. SSL 360 makes a significant difference, especially since the SSL 4K E(at least the shape of the EQ curves known ones) is also housed within Reason, and the Meter is available on a rent-to-own basis. The only thing missing is the bus compressor (and the SSL 9000K channel strip), but it's only a matter of time before they put it/them on sale

https://store.solidstatelogic.com/plug-ins/ssl-4k-e
https://store.solidstatelogic.com/plug-ins/meter
or
https://support.solidstatelogic.com/hc/ ... -notes-0-0

subscription wouldn't be an option for sure

Image

luckily it no need any hardware to able to work, + in AL(with the VST3 versions) it uses the Mackie protocol so can see the sends and the volume faders of the tracks too(+ the plugins too)

One feels entirely at home, almost Reason especially with the many the many RRP instances :)
