Hey! I just got these a few days ago - first impressions are that they're very cool. I pretty much forget I'm wearing headphones. Only thing I'm experiencing atm is what I consider to be quite a high CPU load. Admittedly I'm running at 64 samples but that's required for guitar. I'm getting like 25-25% on my 11700 64GB machine. Anyone else experiencing this? Is it time for a CPU upgrade?

I have them here too, was very surprised how useful they've become over the months!
My advice: You don't need the VSX plug at all for tracking, right? so just finish up those guitars and track work and then only add VSX when its mix/master time.
at that time you can just bump up the buffer to 256 or 512 even.
That's all i got...Hope that helps!

p.s. what's your favorite room(s) so far? Archon and Deans room here and then I do the car checks. :D

Yeah I think that might be the case. So with the VSX software disabled, are the headphones still like..usable/accurate? Like are they just a really good set of headphones that you can work with, without the emulation? I wouldn't mind separating those two parts of the process out. Might help me focus on the writing a bit better.

Dean's room is probably my favourite, joint with Steven's to be honest!

You can use it as a stand alone outside your DAW .

Correct finish off the mixing then take it out of the DAW.
Setting up a separate output is possible too, depending on your interface.

Having only just got my VSX headphones, I have to admit they are sounding very good. I can't do much to treat the room I mix in so these are ideal. I have been recording in the studio at the radio station I work. I have guest playing live, generally duo or singer songwriters.I mic them up and guitars into my audio interface, into Reason Lite then the audio goes to our broadcast mixer. When I get the stems home, I work on them in Reason with iZotope Ozone 11 in the Master insert. I'm now listening to those files through the VSX and I'm very pleased with the result. I was pleased to see that they gave good instructions for adding VSX into Reason. My favorite studio is Yellow Matter Studios. Good to see 008 and Chimp_Spanner still active with Reason Talk....it's been a while for me.

I tend to use the HD linear 2 headphone setting when listening to music (system wide) and also use this when creating tracks.

I tend to then also use the various rooms, devices etc as mix checks. Mike deans mains and his car are very good for checking the low end content imo.

As someone who creates in the corner of my front room I will likely never have a good acoustic space and most of my work is done while my kids are in bed so headphones are a necessity.

As mix checks I've found them reassuring that despite my advancing years, my mixes seem to sit well. As for system wide, they are great for checking others mixes as comparisons. I've not got around to trying them just as headphones without the software. I use Beyer DT100's for recording and mixing I use Shure SRH1840's. It will be interesting to try them without software.

Little update on this for you; you can choose which version of the modelling is used. It will default to the newest, v4. But many users have complained this is somewhat of a backwards step. I switched to v3 and what a difference. Way clearer in the top end. Some of the rooms were just like a boomy, muffled mess before. Now they're all super usable in their own way. Check it out and see what you think. It was like a major upgrade for me!
