Perhaps useful to know in advance before doing the switch.... of course I have an Ultralite firewire only....
Populate at wish.
Motu has native M1 for modern Audiocard.... not firewire EDIT>>>> ALSO FIREWIRE WORKS!!! MUST FOLLOW SOME MOTU SPECIFIC STEPS TO DISABLE THIRD PARTY APP SECURITY!!!!
MOTU Audio - M1 Apple Silicon Driver Instructions
The MOTU Audio Installer now supports the following interfaces on M1 Apple Silicon Macs:
4pre
828x (Thunderbolt only)
828mk3 Hybrid*
896mk3 Hybrid*
8pre USB*
Audio Express
MicroBook IIc
Track16
UltraLite-mk3 Hybrid*
*FireWire only variants are not supported.
*Edit - Motunation Forum posted some unofficial positive feedback for Firewire only MkII Interfaces on Mac M1 and cascade adapters TB-3-TB2 > TB2-FW.
Unconfirmed but there could be hope... Interface tested was 828Mk2 on a MacBook Pro M1 and Big Sur.
M1 Mac supported audio cards?

Steinberg UR-RT4 works on M1. It's not native, requires a driver install but it works.
You know what else works? Propellerhead Balance. Crazy but true.

Wow! That is surprising! I had already resigned myself to buying a new audio interface once I upgrade my computer… Very cool that I don’t have to!
D.
Really? I bought a Macbook Pro not long ago and first disappointment was exactly to realise that my Balance Audio Device isn't working at all. Not a single light is on....
Am I missing something?

Not sure. Maybe that it's broken? Or maybe the cable is bad? Mine works on an M1 iMac, a Mac Studio, and an M1 MacBook Pro. Straight plug and play. The Codemeter doesn't work, but all audio functions work fine. Lights do come on.
Wow! I have the UMC1820 too and I'm planning to upgrade to a Mac Mini Pro M2. Glad to hear there won't be any compatibility issues!
