Interesting - analogue semi-modular with 64 patch points. Price around $299.
Shame we always have to wait so long for their announcements to become purchasable products.

Wow! They've managed to make it look even more hideous than the Neutron!! Just the most hideous colors and designs.
As with the Neutron though, it's a LOT of semi-modular synth for the money. Also like the Neutron it's in dire need of a new faceplate

I was literally on the verge of buying a Neutron to cheer myself up when I learned about this. I'm assuming it's the case that I could get this *instead* of the Neutron right? Like it's not a distinctly different synth, but an upgrade of its existing features? It looks amazing. For sound design and sampling....dizzy with the possibilities.

Definitely a better option than the Neutron on paper. However, there tends to be a huge gap between these announcements from Behringer and the item being available to buy and the Neutron will probably see some further discounting as a result of being outspecced at the same recommended price point. You could do worse than buying a Neutron first and adding a Proton as a companion later. A crazy amount of cross patching opportunities there.chimp_spanner wrote: โ02 Mar 2022I was literally on the verge of buying a Neutron to cheer myself up when I learned about this. I'm really hoping that the Proton will use different oscillators to the 3340 types in the Neutron but I suspect it will not.

It seems like it's coming out now! But the price is rather the 400 EUR or above category. Thus it's justified, compared to Neutron.
I'd grab it some day.

the Proton looks good. But Bang for the buck, the Behringer Kobol Expander is friggin awesome. It plays great with my Eurorack stuffs. good as a voice and can also be patched just for its utilities. Love the wave sweepable OSCs too, Very Vince Clark.

Yeah, but there are differences/things left out, which rather makes it 'different' from Neutron, than 'better'.
