It is becoming more and more obvious I can no longer run on Win7 with less and less compatibility with software but the idea of upgrading is daunting.
I'm of the old school format drive/fresh install era but these days you can 'update' the OS without having to reinstall every bit of software again. I'm sure there will be driver issues and some other annoyances but how easy is it to install win 10/11 over win 7 for those that have took the leap?

I was very sceptical about what would happen to an old windows 7 laptop that I setup to try R+ but when R12 got released and forced the need for the upgrade I bit the bullet and just run the upgrade and was shocked with the ease of getting windows 10 installed and running.

I did post about the process including the official link as I wanted to share a working free solution go search for it.

Make sure that you have a backup of your files, make sure you have your windows 7 media available just in case but it's definitely a surprise that it worked and worked well.

I think you'll have to use Win10 as you PC most likely does not have the required DRM-Chip (TPM) for Win11.

I'm staying away from 11 for as long as I can.

Me to! It is very similar to the state of reason 12 ;-l not finished. But the good thing is... win10, for me, it is very stable since years and reason 11 still a super inspiring music production environment.

Yeah. As we speak it's taking MINUTES to even start.

Win10 is pretty great. I hope they won't undo all that with 11.
