So with the increasing vinyl sales is it worth considering pressing your own?

If so what's the best way to get started.

Do you mean releasing something on vinyl or something like this?:

You need a pressing plant. Have you looked into the services provided by companies like Qrates? There's a few that do the whole crowdfunding vinyl thingy.

It's kinda complicated, not really a thing to do at home:

But there is the Acetate option, I guess?

Very interesting, and I think I like the idea of square vinyl, as for the question it's more a thought than a goal. What would you choose. DIY or outsource?

If I ever release a vinyl, I would outsource for sure. The DIY seems like quite the investment and would probably not end well for me. :)

Well I guess like most things it's going to take some trial and error.

Det outsourcing. I have friends here in Sweden who released small batches of vinyl lps. 200 ltd editions. Design cover and get that printed and made at the same time. There’s different price tiers and packages.

What's a ruff estimate price for 200 12" single sided single track run.

I guess it depends a lot in where you are. I remember during the 80s they always had small ads for pressing 7”s and stuff. Google it for the country you live in.

If you want them to last more than a few plays, you got to pay the bucks. At home? Lol.

Single sided? That's a waste of resources. Go big or go home but don't do vinyl at home.... There's tons of options, I remember the dubplates but the quality is shit...

To print pro quality vinyl you need expensive gear and you need training.

Otherwise you can get one of these:

 really? forget that home idea you be wasting your and others time with a product sounding ………..

here is a good idea ask a pressing house the cost , you have a minimum amount mentioned and cost , if you really thinking about this do that first no thread on here is going to help you , only you can 1, real mastering will be needed and someone which has done stuff for vinyl IE there is certain FHZs can or will cause skipping let alone more importantly it sounding good,, then artwork for center label , then you can combined the cost of the vinyl run , most use disco sleeves to help the cost no artwork on sleeves then you have a better idea of the total cost , also the explosion of the 7 inch vinyl's in recent years because of cost is better , but I personally hate 7s but the days of the cheap 12s run are over then even 10 years ago

here in the UK if you wanted a one off for example ie 1 record press ,there is dub studio which has been around for years and they do a better then normal acetate, ie it lasts a lot longer then a acetate , I know people which have ones for over 15 years and still plays well

honestly forget about home pressing its pointless idea
