Would anyone agree that this instrument could only be the work of the devil. This is the first instrument that most kids come in contact with. It feels bad, it sounds bad and in my opinion if anything will turn kids off music for life this will. Anyway...anybody want to leave their own experiences or insights.

I agree. What would you suggest as an alternative? Cheap untunable/unplayable guitars are just as bad IMO.

Excellent! It's evil! Suddenly, it reminds me all these school events where we were playing these high pitched unrecognizable melodies, everything out of tune and aggressive! What can be more silly than (trying) playing the same melody with a bunch of these awful 'devices', say 20 kids that don't bother ? Thanks Mr Figg, now my day is ruined as I feel like I'm there again. :) I don't even know why I still love music after such atrocities. :P

For me it would be something you have to physically learn how to play. I have no idea what would be best. But it should be capable of making pleasant sound unlike that bloody recorder.

I still have my Yamaha recorder I had when I was a kid. It's become a sound design tool of mine lol. I'll remove just the mouth piece and create some cool and sometimes shrill sounds with that.

If I ever find mine I will use it to beat a percussive rhythm against a brick wall.

My whole class started to learn it at junior school. Gradually people dropped out and then one day I realised I was the only boy left so I dropped out too because, you know, girls - yuk!

Just now bothered to watch this vid.
Am humbled
I'd take it back but no, you can't take it back.
Respect to humans taking the long path to "mastering" an instrument
