Le strum midi controller as external chord player?

It's a gorgeous and ultra-cheap piece of hardware, but it hasn't midi input.
It is open source btw... which makes me wonder if midi in could be tinkered....
An hardware chord generator/translator ..... so nice it could be a player plugout with a little upgrade....
