NanoKey 2 plug and play

I have a Korg Nanokey 2 controller. At first , I had not installed a driver for it, just selected it in the Reason controller list. I was then able to plug it in and use it no problem. I could also unplug it and plug it back in again and it would resume working, no problem.

But then... I got a Korg NanoKontrol mixer controller. This seemed to be more fussy about drivers so I had to install the Korg drivers to get it working. That's fine, It works. The trouble is, now when I am using the NanoKey controller, if it is not plugged in when Reason opens it will not work until Reason is restarted. Also if I unplug and replug it in during a session, I need to restart Reason again.

Any idea why this might be? How to fix?
