Does anybody know how to change presets on the VL3 using Reason?
I'm on v 11
I can use CC messages to control effects all day and automate the VL3 no problem.
I just can't figure out how to select a preset on the VL3.

If I change the Program number on Ext MIDI instrument in the rack it doesn't change the preset, but CC messages work fine.
All filtering of MIDI is disabled in the VL3.

Is there some sequence of CC and PC commands I need to send?

In case anyone is wondering.

In the rack
Create a External MIDI Instrument in the rack and select the MIDI controller you wish to use.
Select the MIDI Channel for the device or devices you want to control.

With CC Assign set to 0 create an automation lane.
Set the CC Assign to 32 and create an automation lane.
Set Program to 0 and create an automation lane for Program Control.

In the sequencer select the automation track and click on the EDIT MODE button.
Position the window panes so you can see the MIDI lanes.
CC32 will select a bank
CC32 value 0 will access presets 1 - 128,
CC32 value 1 will access presets 129 - 256,
CC32 value 2 will access presets 257 - 384
and so on until you hit the max number of tracks in the VL3, whatever that is, maybe 494?

CC0 will select a preset in the selected bank
CC0 value 0 will select the first preset in the bank
CC0 value 127 will select the last preset in the bank

For example...
CC0 value 0, CC32 value 0 will select preset 1
CC0 value 17, CC32 value 0 will select preset 18
CC0 value 0, CC32 value 1 will select preset 129

Know that once you open a song with these settings it will immediately select the preset set by these lanes.

If you want to change a preset while the track is playing create clips in the automation tracks for CC32 and CC0 for the preset you want to switch to. Then create a Program Change clip that is set to some different number then the static value. Make sure the Program Change clip ends before the CC32 and CC0 clips, otherwise you'll go right back to the previous patch.
