Hello,

I am looking for a rack mountable spectrum analyzer ... already for a long time but could not find anything available or reasonable price.

Today I found this company "BDS" from Taiwan.
It seems that they produce several equipments.
It's new, and I don't see reviews or information online actually, I am wondering if someone heard about it or own any products from this company ?
Rack quality seems to be okay from what I see on the pictures/movies, but most important is the spectrum accuracy.

If you could tell me how do you feel about this product ?
I appreciate

2U rack : http://tsunami-sound-systems.kong365.co ... ed-edition

well, in case you are interested I found on a Chinese website a few reviews (and seems to be fine)
about ~80$ for 1U version and ~170$ for 2U ... I will think about it and maybe give it a try.
"Designed in Taiwan" but company is Chinese (http://www.bds.com.tw/en/contact.html)

If you know any similar products, please let me know.
Thank you

First off, I would establish your specific needs here. Be sure you want or need a 31 band third octave display, which is often paired with a 31 band graphic EQ for room correction. Is that your need?
For example, this isn't going to pin-point a note - each band is 4 semitones wide (1/3 octave). Any software spectral display will beat this with frequency resolution. But what this display may have over the others is response time (but there's, no way to be sure from the video).

What are your needs? Are you looking for a stand alone analyzer, plugin analyzer, or hardware analyzer? And what is your budget?

One thing that's odd is the specific mode shown on the video, which looks more like eye candy since the peaks are floating away from the bars over time…hmmmmm.

Good catch!

- But, that's some Nice Eye Candy.
- I use an Art 231, but to see the energy in bars would be nice. I doubt I'd monitor THRU it that BDS.

But, I have yet to USE the Art as more than a feedback locator.
It's a Pain to move 62 Bands of EQ - until you absolutely have to. But, Art works well when needed EQ wise.

>$100-200 seems worth a shot. Worse case - a cool light show!

Thanks for your answers.

Actually, I would like to keep an eye on the spectrum of my main output channel.
I want to see in real time peaks and what's happening with the frequencies range.
I have rack in front of me, so I was trying to find 1U or 2U format to display spectrum.

For example with reason I used something like this before
https://www.propellerheads.com/shop/rac ... ec-effect/
https://www.propellerheads.com/shop/rac ... l-monitor/

I like it, but hardware might be better for me.
(not sure about budget but max could be ~500$)

I also noticed that on the previously youtube video, the peaks are floating away, so it doesn't make so much sense.
But it seems to be different depending on the "mode" (you can see changes at the end of the video)
On the 1U version (doesn't have different mode)
Seems to be okay, but anyway we can't be sure :

Basically I think I understand how spectrum analyzer works, but I don't really have deep knowledges.
I thought the accuracy might be the most important for this type of hardware.

(I contacted the company because I was wondering if they can ship to my country, answer is fast and they can communicate in English)

I'm still not sure what "accuracy" you're looking for. Again, this analyzer is not accurately going to show you a feedback frequency or a specific musical note as others can do. You can zoom into many spectrum analyzers and get a high degree of accuracy.

The analyzer in Reason will give you MUCH higher frequency accuracy, so I'm still scratching my head as to exactly what you're looking for.

As for hardware, here are two other options, the first is slightly over budget but check the used market:

Another consideration is a separate older laptop or pad device running spectrum software.

Thank you for explanation @selig

Maybe I could not find the right English words to explain clearly what I was looking for
But this is something like the product you mentioned : TC Electronic Clarity M Stereo Loudness Meter
(I was hoping for something available 2U format but it's alright)
