Hey everyone!

Looking for some recommendations. I have an Akai MPC Live that has balanced 1/4" TRS inputs, but I need to be able to record through an XLR mic that requires 48v. I'd also like the option of using a standard dynamic mic with a TRS plug. I'm trying to avoid picking up something expensive - I already own an RME Babyface Pro and have a laptop, but I'd like to leave all that behind while I travel and just bring my MPC Live and a couple of mics.

Can anyone recommend an affordable, portable mic preamp that has 48v power and 1/4" TRS outputs?

Any recommendations?

Considering something like an ART Tube MP, but was hoping for something smaller (and I just need 1 XLR input):

Well crap. Looks like I'm in this alone. ART Tube MP or the ART USB Dual Pre. Will likely go with one of these. I figure I can run this off of my MPC Live's USB port:

Or go the wall wart route:

Missed your request the first time.

I have two, both now discontinued but must have been replaced by newer versions:

DBX MiniPre https://dbxpro.com/en/products/minipre

Behringer MIC200 https://www.studiospares.com/Studio-Gea ... 370450.htm
(New version might be MIC500)

These are both tube mic preamps, powered with a wall wart. The Behringer one has a selector switch for different preamp models.

For dynamic microphones, the quick down and dirty solution is a line transformers such as this classic from Shure:

They are typically less than $20 USD, and also work for running a dynamic mic into guitar pedals.

Thanks for that - might be a great option for my dynamic at least. But.. after some thought.. I think I also want a phantom powered condenser option, so an "all-in-one" might be my best bet.
