Is Behringer UMC404HD good?

Here is the deal,

Up until yesterday I have only used Reason 10 with the built in machines, RE's and VST's but I found an Alesis Ion in excellent condition for €120 (roughly the same in USD). Of course I couldn't resist... That leaves me with two problems:

1: I need a MIDI in/out capable device to hook to my Mac
2. In need to be able to record in stereo (The Ion has L/R unbalanced outputs)

So far I have used a Focusrite Scarlett Solo (2nd gen) since I only recorded vocals but now I obviously need more inputs and MIDI capability. Since I'm on a budget I am looking att cost effective solutions and I stumbled across the Behringer UMC404HD which seems to cater for my needs.

Does anyone in here have any experience with it or heard anything positive/negative that I might take into consideration. Any advice or suggestions regarding alternatives appreciated.

Cheers!

I got it and it's fantastic. The price is unreal for the quality you get. Those Midas preamps are excellent. Latency is very good, drivers are stable, they even work under Linux from what I've heard. You can power it with USB only. Alternatively, you could use it as a simple mixer without a DAW for on-the-road recording purposes.
It's in my opinion THE device for any serious hobbyist, wether you're on a budget or not. Behringer is not advertising much and they're missing out on a lot of sales because of that.

Thank you Karim! Yes, the Behringer devices seem to deliver good bang for the bucks spent.

Unless I am totally misinformed that changed in 2018. At least for the larger devices. Then again, I'm on Mac so I shouldn't have to worry about drivers.

No.
Amen to that. Those drivers are the only reason I would hesitate to buy another Behringer interface.

I've had it for over a year now. No issues with mac on Sierra. Headphone Output could be a touch louder, but it's ok.

You'll like it! BTW I'm working with High Sierra.
Zero issues at the moment and the Midas preamps are pretty fantastic
on recordings audio (let's say with a microphone.)

Thanx for all your input! My UMC404HD has arrived and is installed (installed means I connected the cables...) for use with Reason 10.4 on Macbook (Mojave). No issues whatsoever so far and it sounds great! Seems to be very good value for money!
