Hi all! I’m new to this so this might be a dumb question but...
Are there any preferred laptop setups you would recommend? I’m trying to figure out what would be the most reliable setup if anyone is already using it. Thanks!
Any preferred laptops?

I wouldn't recommend a Dell. Mine supposedly had a top rated processor but was woefully too slow with reason.
Which processor?reggie1979 wrote: ↑13 Apr 2019I wouldn't recommend a Dell. Mine supposedly had a top rated processor but was woefully too slow with reason.

I believe it was an i7 7500. I got tons of "stopped working" errors vs. Bitwig.

I'd probably say MacBook Pro. I especially love Apple's IDAM https://discchord.com/appnews/2017/11/1 ... everything with the various iPad instruments right into Reason.

Dell are great though, super durable. Your case depends on the processor.reggie1979 wrote: ↑13 Apr 2019I wouldn't recommend a Dell. Mine supposedly had a top rated processor but was woefully too slow with reason.
That's not what I'd call a top rated processor: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cp ... Hz&id=2863
It's top rated for regular users who just use the internet and office and stuff like that. For creators, that's mid tier at best.
Reason should work better with that processor after the update that's coming soon though.

I recently got a new laptop and it has been working like a beast with Reason, but it came with its downsides as well.
Namely, the downsides are a truly bad battery (extremely bad) and a mediocre screen. And it wasn't cheap either! But the performance makes up for it, as it is my full time job working with audio and Reason. If you are interested, it was a gaming computer (unfortunately, those seem to be the only ones sporting the best processors nowadays) Lenovo legion y530 with an i7 8750H.
Your best bet is the highest rated processor you can afford, not any particular brand or model.

That's cos Dell laptops can't manage heat. They're constantly thermal throttling.reggie1979 wrote: ↑13 Apr 2019I believe it was an i7 7500. I got tons of "stopped working" errors vs. Bitwig.
I bought an i7 Dell XPS 15 in 2012, it's dead now, the Nvidia chip tried to escape the furnace. Dell, Alienware, all the same shitty heat management issues.
I'll say the same thing I always say when I'm asked about laptops, they're never as good as desktops, if you don't already have a decent workhorse desktop start there.
@pushedbutton on twitter, add me, send me a message, but don't try to sell me stuff cos I'm skint.
Using Reason since version 3 and still never finished a song.

Interesting. I didn't know at the time. I bought it (for a decent price) and then sold it (for a less than decent price )pushedbutton wrote: ↑14 Apr 2019That's cos Dell laptops can't manage heat. Bitwig was "ok" at the time. Reason was not. WAY worse in usage and I wanted to use Reason.
