Own the Shure 1440s and wanted to try something different and see what all the fuss is about SennHeiser phones. Only spending money on mixing tools at moment cause I would like to be at the point where I don't need to send tracks to get mastered. Will update after I break them in.
Just ordered the HD700

Have the D770t. Switched to the HD600.
Plugs, ergonomics, Stereo Image...
It was toughy... 600 or 700. In the end I went with passive and slow - but accurate.. - until I can rock the 800s.
Here's a nice review on them:

Good read but I wonder how long did they have either headphones because many have said that the 1440s have no lowend which it didn't when I first bought them but after many hours of play them the bass response is accurate imo. You cannot unbox any cans and make a judgment call on their performance period.O1B wrote: ↑11 Mar 2018Have the D770t. Switched to the HD600.

Hard to judge 'accurate' bass response period. The issues are:
- Standardization - which headphones?
- Psychoacoustics - you, the listener
- room.. on and on
But, I do believe you have some great cans. Congrats!!
I rarely wear headsets (HD600) though.
Inside: Bose and Focals .
Outside: EarPods and an EQ.

Yeah plan on getting some new monitors myself,I'm using the JBL 308s right now with very little room treatment. Looking at the new Focal flaxseed threaded cone monitors. I'm just waiting to put some music out first.O1B wrote: ↑11 Mar 2018Hard to judge 'accurate' bass response period. The issues are:

Had these HD700 cans for about 5 days and immediately I was disappointed with quality and craftsmanship of them compared to my Shure 1440s. The hd700 only came with one set of 1/4 connector cable with no 3.5mm adapter priced at $599. The Shure 1440s came with two 1/4 cable connectors that screw on top of the 3.5 adapters and ear cushion replacements. If I wanted to listen to my mix on a phone I would just unscrew the 1/4 adapter.
Then it's the sound that has nothing to do with being burned in that is very dark and dull sounding. Absolutely no clarity on anything pass 1k and it had me automatically inserting an Eq to add some air to my mix. The bass and lowend as a whole is better than the 1440s but it's hyped imo and doesn't translate to speakers or earbuds.
I'm completely disappointed in hd700s and I'm sending them back asap and getting the Shure 1840s.

Sorry to hear about the HD700s..
I really love my HD600s and have been using them for almost 2 years.
