I gotta dig into that site!

Thanks, filegate :D
Yeah. Nice. Make sure to also google some Eurocom reviews. They might temper your enthousiasm a bit.

If I was you, I would just go for a regular A-brand, with proper support.

Buddy ist waiting on 8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 processor, too. If you can wait a little bit longer (maximum 4/5 months), then I think there will be new notebook-models with HEXA-Core CPU`s and quad-channel ram-support.
At which point another generation CPU will be around the corner, so if you could then again wait a little longer, you might get a new laptop in 2038.

Factory refurbished is always worth a look. There are reputable companies on eBay that just sell factory refurbished computers all day long, and there are bargains to be had there. That's where my laptop came from and it's still serving with aplomb 3 years later, even with the VK-2s and U-He Repros that I keep forcing upon it.

It's a Dell M6800.
4810MQ i7,
32Gb RAM.

It gets to 55 seconds in the stress test file. Not much by today's standards, but not bad for a laptop.

ok, so my mother in law got her ThinkPad E580 last week and I been helping her set it up

We chose ThinkPad because they are typically known to be easy to upgrade drives and RAM and clean fans, maintain, etc... Well, not this one dagnabbit! Special tools (plastic spreaders) are going to be required to peel the back off...I m really not happy about it... We planned to install another drive immediately, and I fear breaking the plastic; even with the special tools. The extra drive probably isn't required with the fast ports on it.

The M.2 OS drive has been formatted FAT32!!! That I do not understand. I cannot resize or partition the drive so far. I understand the networking with macs angle...but FAT32???

The fans spins up randomly...ANY load... And it spins up... The worst offender is the Lenovo Vantage software... This software is throttling one of the CPU threads to a solid, continuous 100%.

Now, my mother in law is thrilled with her new laptop...if I was buying this ThinkPad for Reason I would NOT be happy with it.

Think I'm gonna finally switch to Mac and get a Macbook Pro 15" if they get updated this year. Keen to get into Logic as an alternative.
