More important for me (from a player's perspective) is key width, and the distance from the front edge of the white keys to the front edge if the black keys. The total length hardly comes into play, all other dimensions being the same.

Good point. key width is definitely important too. That's one thing I overlooked when I bought the Launchkey 25. But I bought that mainly for my iPad. I still have my Axiom 49 which I should use again with Reason.
