Akai APC40 mk2

Anyone have any experience with using an Akai APC 40 mk2 with reason? (or any of the similar controllers?)
I just read somewhere that each channel strip sends the same midi messages but on different midi channels, and that ends up meaning that in reason you can only use 1 channel strip as they are all the same, and apparently reason wont notice the different midi channels. Is this correct? It seems strange. I thought you could just plug it in and use the "remote override" thing when you right click on stuff in reason to assign it all.
