Looking for tips: Sample library program for windows capable of reading RX2 and REX files

Want to talk about music hardware or software that doesn't include Reason?

Hi,

As the topic says i'm looking for a sample library program for windows that will index my samples and rex files. Preferably capable of previewing RX2 and REX files.

Any ideas ?

Google pointed to this: http://hypercube-softwares.duckdns.org/ ... ch-finder/
No clue if this would work for you.

No problem! And report back, please. Would be good to know if this freeware program is any good...
Not quite sure why you'd need something like that and what for, but we all have different needs! ;)

Over the last 20 something years i've accumulated over 250k samples. Years and years of magazines with DVD's full of content will do that to you :P I have no idea whats in there. Probably a lot of crap so that needs to be pruned. As it is now using it with Reason through the browser is kind of useless.

So i'm just looking for something that's able to make a nice index, save some searches.. give me info on sample rate, tempo if available etc...
Especially now that we have DnD i thought it would be usefull but all the stuff i trialed up to now wasn't able to do RX2 and REX files.

I think i might go with http://www.ryaudio.com/index.html. Looks pretty good.
It has a quite extensive library navigator that lets me easily select files based on certain constraints.
I can setup groups, rate, tag... Everything i'd like to see in Reasons browser basically... :P

Thanks for explaining. But don't you still have to go through the samples to sort them at some point?

Sure i do, but at least now i have a more convenient way to do this, especially for Rex files. ;)

Good point! Especially if it allows you to mark stuff (for deletion or to go into special categories, etc) right there and don't have to have a separate window in the finder to do that!

uvi player has a standalone app and all plugin formats, is free, and previews rex files to perfection. In fact it's the only one i know of besides DrRex that previews them properly to tempo. But it doesn't index AFAIK.
