I'm a big fan of the ipad for music creation and I know there are like minded users out there so I thought I start a thread to keep it all in one place.
Also thought it could be a good thread for musicians and DJs who use reason and other software live.
so what is your favourite app right now?
I'm still loving Laplace, great little synth.

Great thread!

I use Thor and Moog Filtatron for live gigs. Rock solid apps.

Moog Animoog and Korg iMS-20 are my favorite toys to waste time on a train atm.

If you use Reason and own an iPad, "rsTouch" is a must-have imho.

Not Audiobus or IAA compatible? Seems odd. Maybe the reviewer is mistaken - 2:50

I believe differently, I think mobile music is a very useful and creative tool.
Just look at how creative you could be with Samplr for example

it's free for PC users , It is a bit weird on a huge screen but it must be awesome on surface pro3 !

I Wonder if they did this editor for volca samples , the caustic guys sayed they will do it but ....
It does not die , it multiplies !

7.101 and I will upgrade maybe this summer .

My most loved and used apps:

Samplr:
My favourite app and one of my favourite virtual instruments, just make stuff on this that I cannot begin to replicate with any of my hardware or software. I bought my first iPad for this app.

Thumbjam:
Incredible expression and samples, many scales and instruments included and the developer creates new instrument packs that are free downloads. Can sample and is quite a complete sampler for making expressive instruments of your own. This thing is also a midi powerhouse, it accepts midi to trigger it's samples, can itself be used as a midi controller with voice per channel control, it's a midi filter, and can even constrain incoming midi to a certain key or scale and then send it on to other apps or hardware. This app even does audio input pitch to midi! Amazing app.

Sector:
Probability based sample slicer with it's own sequencer and effects. Incredibly cool.

MidiDesigner Pro:
Excellent midi controller creation app, like a more basic and more accessible version of Lemur. Use this all the time and have templates for other apps and computer software and hardware, very good balance of ease of use and features.

Audioshare:
Indispensable tool for sample editing and managment.

SeekBeats:
Great little drum synth with sequencer and a very clever randomising feature. It's worth reading the manual about the randomiser because it's often used incorrectly

Nave:
Great wavetable synth

Sparkle:
Cross modulation vocoder type instrument, makes very interesting sounds.

WOW filterbox:
Sugarbytes please bring this to Reason!

Gadget:
A whole studio in a single app, with 2 samplers available as IAP and now Module which includes piano/keys as a IAP too.

Here's 2 jams I did with the new electribe and Samplr:

i dig those videos ! like i said on PUF (R.I.P.), i had an Electribe MX years ago & had my fun with it, but it looks the new versions are a real fresh version of the 'tribe' :)

Enjoy !

Just came across this very odd but very good little app called Portable Dandy.
Its just had an update to ios8 and is actually on sale at the moment for half price ($1.99 and £/Euro equivalent)
Here is a demo...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77J_Hn-eoqA

As you can see in the demo there are a few audio glitches that the dev needs to sort out but some of the soundscapes he gets out of it are brilliant.

I opened Reason for the first time in quite a while to create some beats to copy over to my Novation Launchpad app. It's amazing how much fun you can have creating a track on the fly using loops.
I have a small collection of music apps but the amount of in-app purchases for extra content gets a bit old. Plus everything went up in price once I jumped on board!

Grum.
