This is awesome, a rack module running a VCV rack patch...
WOndering if it runs Elk... probably not... impressive!

it looks cool. and would be nice to emulate different modules in my actual rack. I have not seen the cost yet.Re8et wrote: ↑27 Sep 2023CDM link

Back when it was all clinical grey Doepfer stuff I used to think Eurorack was really cool and sophisticated. These days it looks like expensive candy for man-babies. Lol
But the flashing and blinking pretty lights and patterns are fun!Jackjackdaw wrote: ↑28 Sep 2023Back when it was all clinical grey Doepfer stuff I used to think Eurorack was really cool and sophisticated. These days it looks like expensive candy for man-babies. Lol

I also like the blinky mods. But one of my favorite utilities is Maths, which is quite grey. Modbap's Osiris is my newest module. It is black, hot pink, and teal. It's like driving through the 80s at night.
You read my mind.Jackjackdaw wrote: ↑28 Sep 2023Back when it was all clinical grey Doepfer stuff I used to think Eurorack was really cool and sophisticated. These days it looks like expensive candy for man-babies. Lol
Black face modules are pretty sexy too. Some of the white & multi-colored stuff... not so much.Jackjackdaw wrote: ↑28 Sep 2023Back when it was all clinical grey Doepfer stuff I used to think Eurorack was really cool and sophisticated. These days it looks like expensive candy for man-babies. Lol
Disclosure: I sell black faced Eurorack modules at my store, so I'm biased.

So whatever happened to the idea that RS floated a few years ago, about being able to run RE's in some sort of hardware platform? Did that idea die?
I posted about this a couple weeks ago, with links to the old ELK speculation.
Dan from 4MS has been posting on ModWiggler about this module. It's running bare bones on the chip without ELK it seems. also:
"There are two Cortex A7 processors, each running at 800MHz, which run the audio processing in parallel. The co-processor (Cortex-M4F, running at 240MHz) handles reading the controls, USB, SD Card, and other system tasks."
The big thing is there won't be any appstore involved with it. All VCV source to be included will get put into the firmware.
It's going to be a huge deal when this module comes out. They are porting all their real world modules to VCV, too.
If you ain't hip to the rare Housequake, shut up already.
Damn.

Also Synthex modules are pretty sexy, all DIY, with github Open Source codes for Daisy Seed.DJMaytag wrote: ↑06 Oct 2023Black face modules are pretty sexy too. There is already Cardinal for Linux... there-s already some guys that made way better touch screen versions of 4ms with a rasp Pi 5...Catblack wrote: ↑09 Oct 2023I posted about this a couple weeks ago, with links to the old ELK speculation.

That's very interesting to me. I've been after a good and cheap sample player in eurorack. I've almost finished a CTag Strampler (which is a build I started years ago, even ordered the Antumbra redesign pcbs when they came out and stuck all the ordered parts on that.) I've built a Nutella Tsunami years ago and that works now I've found an SD card that doesn't cause crackle. I'm so deep into the diy end of things you have no idea.Re8et wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025There is already Cardinal for Linux... there-s already some guys that made way better touch screen versions of 4ms with a rasp Pi 5...Catblack wrote: ↑09 Oct 2023

I'd decided to take a break from building modules for a while, maybe save up to get one of those 4ms Meta modules. But nope I got back into it. Built 2 Blattwerk Betula modules so now I've got 8 in and out ADAT. I finally fixed my PreenFM2 and bought someone's half finished kit so I'll have two, and that led me to looking into the idea of doing a euro panel for it. That led me into figuring out how to do eurorack panels, so I've got a couple designed but not ordered. (I didn't finish the preen panel, but I think someone could make a eurorack version from the published files on github. Before the dac chip is impossible to get that is.)
So thanks for the video. With my Adat setup now I can shoot audio in and out from my computer. I haven't really given it a huge shakedown. Though I now do have my beloved launchpad grid controller hooked up so my custom lua Remote interface (search my posts for the word launchpad) now controls the preen and then back into the modular rack. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE polyphony. And also the preenfm2 rocks due to the massive dx7 patches and also some good solid random patch creation. Preenfm2 really should be emulated in VCV.
So from my preamble, I am hugely interested in the marriage of sound to interface. The pen/pointer he shows in that video... ug, that'd drive me crazy. I bought a raspberry pi touch display back in 2016, I swear I'll get around to using it someday. It's just so small and like the one in that video my huge hands would need a stylus. Give me knobs!
I'm still not interested in a Meta quite yet. I think in a year or two when someone sells theirs I'll get one used. I'm not 100% sold on the Meta's look (the colors and labelling) or that I'd need to drop a lot of money into it to get the midi and such.
Now I imagine in this rasp pi 5 screen thing here you could use midi over wifi somehow, save a cable. I'm been considering putting all my euro midi stuff near each other. I'm also considering an antarctic expedition that I'll enjoy more. But to be able to set and forget some midi sample stuff -- and build the patches on my computer and then just copy it over. Heck you should be able to remote desktop in.
But you'll STILL need to get the DAC Hat for it to Euro levels. I've got a couple of things that do that but ...
I do see this earlier vid and this tindie link
https://www.tindie.com/products/deftaud ... erry-pi-4/
Which is smaller but but is powered by euro.
I'll have to do some research later this week. As it is with something like this, with my setup where I've got a couple Westlicht Performers that can do 4x cv to midi and 8x midi to cv. And also those ADAT interfaces for audio in and out... The key to all this has to be the audio levels coming out of the thing being euro levels.
