What is the best microphone for Canon camera?

Rode Videomic pro is good, I've got one. It's fairly directional.

Depends on what you're wanting to record, but in my experience, the best affordable stereo mic with a standard 1/8" plug that does NOT need batteries is the Tascam TM-2X Stereo XY Condenser DSLR Microphone. It's only 100 bucks and that's right, no batteries!

I've used the first Rode video mic and it's ok. But it requires a 9v, it's directional and it doesn't do well in high volume situations.
