I tend to early adopt when I have the money. Right now I am sitting on 8 year old vista machines and a 2011 win7 vaio as my main DAW workstation. My workstation does allow me to make money mixing audio...it is running great, actually. Those vista machines were all purchased new from the Sony shop on Tottenham Court Road, London (long ago closed down) . We spent mac money on our laptops in 2009. Yeah, they are getting very long in the tooth, yet, they are still churning along....even as the various software manufacturers pull out support from ageing products and latest releases.
I was thinking to go a different route this time, self build cheaper, outdated high spec components desktop workstations (the Aeox method
. That windfall is just around the corner...and maybe #2 Mass Adoption of Coffee Lake will be in full swing in early 2018...and I will early adopt again Looking at last year's graph, May is the low month
Is DDR4 gonna be worth it next month? 4,000 currency units for a fat stack of DDR4 seems very unreasonable. Then, another 4k currency units for the rest of the components? I am gagging for a multiple output interface as well...possibly RME...another 4k?....and that H8000FW I gotta have? also 4k...I might as well go 7K for the as yet released H9000 :-/ Pinch me! I need a new car and couple of roofs, too
RAM is outta control.
