Nice idea however well overpriced and that's for the early bird price...
Ahh, the Theoryboard
I saw this earlier. I think it's a great idea, but as you say, it's way over-priced in its current form. Which is a shame. Also, regardless of price, it could do with additional basic functionality for general DAW control. A few knobs, pitch and mod wheels, transport. If the pads were a bit wider, less tall and with narrower gaps, it could be a very handy drum controller and clip launcher too - and would probably be more playable for its original purpose to boot.
I want it to happen. I just want it to be better.

And remember, blessed are the cheesemakers, and any manufacturers of dairy-based music !
Hell yeah E., you're a "cheesius".

Yeah, I saw the Theoryboard and got in as an early backer. I jumped at backing it when I first saw it, partly because a kickstarted controller usually holds it's value for a year or two. These guys want to sell these at $800?
I will probably pull out next month for a number of reasons. Firstly the design they are showing is not the final design. They are removing some buttons and lowering the height on them. This is mentioned in the comments with a lot of vagueness.
Secondly, the person responding to comments on the kickstarter has been coming off a bit too hippy-dippy for my tastes. ("We decided to use the color spectrum that the universe paints with.") Or young and inexperienced. (Never heard of NAMM??) The product page is big on hype, and I'm a little worn on hype with no substance these days.
Thirdly, I've built a Reason codec for the Launchpad Pro (which I'm pretty proud of) and so I've spent about a year and a half heavily thinking about notes and colors and grid layouts and I think these guys are getting it wrong. Unfortunately they are locking their wrongness right into the firmware, which will be closed, so I have no way of fixing the problems I see. That is, if their unit actually gets delivered and isn't impossible to play.
