I don't know, my personal opinion is that I have enough politics shit with actual politics… I turn to synths and music making videos for escapism and focus on my hobby and passion.
I like Jeremy’s talent content creation but I probably won’t bother watching this one

Nice video, but as we are talking about synths here and political topics are banned in this forum, synths cannot be political by logical deduction/association. ;)

Didn't know that was a rule here, and glad to know it is!

I believe Jeremy showed that many artists who use synthesizers are political. But synths themselves do not have an ideology. I also understand how feeling left out because of the beliefs one holds may feel personal. In the end, musical instruments are sold to people of widely varying beliefs. Not wanting to tie one brand to things controversial is prudent. Taking a stand might be considered brave. Not expecting consequences for one's opinion is a bit naive.

IME the people who say “leave politics out of [music/art/film/comedy/whatever the fuck]” are people with bad political beliefs who want to enjoy art without being reminded that the artist thinks their beliefs are shitty. But be reminded, they must.

Should I buy a SOMA product and share my proof of purchase on X because it's a good political stand right now, or rather reject any new Moog products because not made in the USA anymore?

Supporting a synthesizer brand with $$$ could be a very dangerous political direct action. Somebody should find a way to keep people from buying what they want, or at least remotely kill their licenses. I think it is a great idea.

From now on I will cover all my evil made in China Behringer stuff under a blanket before I show off my studio with rando anon online.

And why is it OK to make music just for fun anyway? Fun? FUN???? Anyone creating art without a deep and sad melancholic message is blind to the dark misery of the eXistenZ of humanity.
So are all happy sounding chords.

This thread is so ditto :D

Technically speaking, by sheer virtue of its influence, music will always have a political outlet.

The Beatles. Michael Jackson. Beyonce. Taylor Swift. Jimi Hendrix.

Jimi Hendrix is my favourite. He said he didn't want to make political statements and just leave it to the music. Yet his music is so political in the way it brought people together.

I love seeing people rapping in different languages. There are Indian Grime sets.

The Japanese are the kings and queens of Reggae now.

Music has a way of brining people together, so even without "being political" it becomes political in the best way possible.
