I get so much value out of YouTube that I plumped for a premium subscription. No ads (except for the ones the video creators include of course, but that's plenty for me.) Being able to listen with the screen off is very nice.

Not an option for everyone, I know.
And yet that still doesn't eliminate the hyper compressed audio issue... x D
I thought the thread was about ads?

Oh the irony! I'm not surprised I'm not the only one complaining. But how ironic is it, that there are 20 000 complaints, and the poor things somehow, magically, don't notice a pattern.

But the ending - there's always the mute button - or "I give up"...

Dan Worrall had a good video on music, too regarding the tricking of the current system.

Also, AES are not "experts". As far as I know, they never-ever accept anyone without a degree, just because of being an expert - regardless the fact that IF your country even has a university that is willing to focus on music production and sound engineering; the diploma will be as useful as toilet paper.
Last time I checked, here, the hardest of universities, had a hidden sub class teaching audio engineering, buried in a gigantic, incredibly difficult electrical engineering master class.
Or, some dude got a certificate in England, then came home, and "teaches" people in a few months for back-then-worth 4000 work hours!!! ~to get some shitty little certificate in the end.

It's ridiculous how law can tie people's hands; how a new asshole chairmoron can ruin everything in favor of advertisers and money; and how talented people are closed out of an Engineering Society, which takes a damn decade to make something that we can figure out in just an evening, all because they don't have any interest, passion, or dedication, and tops do the bare minimum work, so that they don't get kicked out...

But at least I understand now that there's nothing we can do in a society, where most people are left on their own and even aggressively are hindered from achieving anything.

You can still write a strongly worded letter to youtube. Of course their customer (non-)support AI will totally ignore it, but you might feel a little better after venting some anger. ;)

I mean, I don't write to advertisers either, cause I know that the responsible ones are hiding like dogshit in the grass, behind multiple shields of AI and customer service people.

Get back at them with this one simple trick: use Brave across all your devices. Done. Instant bliss.

This is the price we have to pay for access to free videos.

I just got Youtube plus ... but nowadays most videos have sponsored ads that you can't ignore anyway.

They have no interest in less annoying commercials. They torture us to get premium.
They are too big to care. But it is really a global health issue and it probably creates bad effects on childrens brain development. So if research can prove its damaging effect, WHO might get involved and the giants having to obey new regulations.
Now is the wild wild west still.

Huge thanks for the ”Brave browser” suggestion.
Peace of mind while watching videos.

I doubt I will pay anything for youtube, at least not for this issue.

But yeah, at this point I will just switch to Brave, too.
