Bought my third udu drum a couple of weeks ago. It's almost like a small collection now. I really like them. This one is called Udu Utar.

As they seem to be quite the right thing for my tiny home studio in the basement I got myself a pair of these for my birthday:

I really love my hydrasynth. I have the desktop version. but it's mounted in a rack. I see this post is a few years old. First I hope your gig went well. But I'd like to know how you feel about the hydra today. I use mine often even when not using sounds from it. I love the clock out. Between that and the DFAM It keeps my rack in time. also a great gate sequencer and its flexible lfos are awesome. do you patch with yours? Do you add anything in the chain to tame the harshness of its filters? when I use it i like to put ART or Mello Fi behind the signal. You are probably a control freak and just do it with eq. Sometimes I like easy. Easy is ART and Mello Fi.

Okay, so I've made a lot of purchases in the last few months, and I'm embarrassed to say what I did afterwards.
First I got a Mac Mini a few months ago (roughly). I got it because I borked my portable desktop with some bad decisions. Besides, it had WiFi issues.
I got a nice gaming desk for said Mac Mini.
I got two monitors for it (and a Thunderbolt dock).
I bought a DI box (it was a quick hack to use the cables I already had). Then I bought the cables a few days later. And I bought an Audiobox Go (for my non-music machine that was gifted with the speakers I used to use for music).
Side note: I also bought a Canon 5D Mark IV for, I dunno, some educational videos I'll never record.
Oh, ... and I bought a pair of Genelec 8030s (plus some excellent speaker stands).
Thankfully I could apply restraint when it came to getting a digital piano.
But I've done sod all with them.
Oh yeah, ... I also subscribed to Reason+ for a year. I don't think I bought Logic Pro, ... maybe it was just a trial.
...
The Genelecs arrived in early March (roughly when I subscribed to R+).
Yesterday was the first evening I sat down and made music since February.
I have done a little songwriting, but that was just on my MPC in standalone mode.
I dunno. Maybe I'm afraid that now I've got all the things I used to tell myself would bring me to the next level, I'll still make the same level of music. And this will confirm it.

I've just bought Synthesizer V.
https://dreamtonics.com/synthesizerv/
I've been playing with the free version for some time but I wanted more control and the new ARA extension.
It's pretty good, easily the best in its field (for now). Not as good as a decent vocalist but decent vocalists can be hard to find, especially when you get older and your pool of "helpers" diminishes due to age, illness and other commitments.
(BTW, anyone who makes music on a Mac and doesn't buy Logic is, frankly, a crazy, kettle-boiling-over, banana tree loon who is knitting with only one needle. We love you Freddie..)

Very interesting, and yes my pool of helpers dries too, so could be for me too……DaveyG wrote: ↑10 May 2024I've just bought Synthesizer V.

Have to see what to do, as my PC gets older and older, and cannot be upgraded to Win 11 next year. When it is time to do some money smashing I tending to go the hardware route again, and buy myself an Akai Force, as I’m used to Ableton Live anyway, and the way it works is different, but it can be learned I guess.
But until then it could be a nice option, and will try the demo/ free version to see what it does.
Had Vocaloid years ago, but that was hard to use.
Greetings from Miyaru.

LOL. It's 05:07 AM and I just ordered Hi-Fi headphones Sony WH-1000XM5-B. Da*n! I am all happy in advance.
I hardly wait to get them. I will use them for casual listening.
They will cost me 24 x 13,70 € = 328,80 €. Pretty cool.
Happy! Happy! Happy!

I saw an ad about in-ear headphones built more like what stage performers use. Apparently, it causes far less ear fatigue and is better able to reproduce bass by using much more drivers (and IIRC fed through a physical tube).

so...
yesterday i got these... mhm!.. fine and super Sony WH1000XM5 black headphones.
long story short: as they say on the internet - excelent! 5/5 stars. really.
in exploring time... there was one moment when i literally wow-ed! myself. i couldn't believe it.
now... please excuse me (for saying it)... and i do not wanna be some self-centric-ego-bastard.. but my song "RNW - Disdained Kingdome" sounds so f*****g and d**n good (above the average) on these headphones that i literally opened my mouth and said to myself: damn boyiii you done it good and also MojoHeadz Records done it well and good cos they postproduction-mastered the song.
basically... summa summarum: every song no matter what sounds so good on these headphones.
i also tried some hi-res audiophile songs from YouTube Music platform and really... baaaa! details. superb!
the active noise cancelation function somehow colors the sound - music in some cases sounds like it was played in closed room with tiles. lame. but this as said do not applie to all songs. some do sounds like this.. overally music sounds so d**n good on these heapdhones.
okey. that's it. love them. i mostly am using them via cable i got it in package. but i also have tried them via blutooth. also they sounds good and amazing.

Roland TD-27KV2 edrum set, got it on sale for just shy of 3k€… funny, it hand’t really dawned on me that I also need to get hi-hat & snare stands, a double bass pedal, and a throne/seat/whatever… and something to put under the kit, thinking of getting one of those rubber based mats meant for public spaces, you can pick them up used for a reasonable price (about the only thing that is reasonably priced in this set). Then I need sticks and cables (longer MIDI-cable & a TRS stereo pair to hook it up to the audio interface). And a practice pad… hmmm, that should cover it (thank gawd for the annual bonus).
Most likely will get everything set up before my 4-5 week summer vacation. I was kind of hovering between getting a nice electronic drum set (a dream from my youth) and travelling but then chose this one.
Kind of funny, I had a few reasons that kept me bound at home (such as our ailing rescue pup of 17 years plus, she spent eight of those with us). Had to let her free to roam the happy hunting grounds few weeks ago… the following day my fiancée and better half of 15 years passed away due to metastasized cancer. Now I am just picking up the pieces, as in, reinventing myself. Traveling seems… too daunting, and also, if I left instead of processing things at home, I would just return to the same place, maybe a changed man, but still, the memories here, and the things that trigger them wouldn’t have gone anywhere.
I think getting back to drumming will help me in that processing, it can be very meditative and will keep my mind occupied while also being something that is useful/educational and a creative outlet. It will help me insert organic elements to my music in addition to vocals, an additional bonus.
I miss them both horribly. I know my metal pixie would have loved to give this set a go even though she loved Vistalites (a whole Jon Bonham thing, I’d assume…). She loved and lived music, more than about anyone else I know.

nice dhruan. i also passion to have that kind of drums but unfortunately i have no place in my living/working room. so... sadly no-go.
as a youngster i used to play drums - we had some punk/hc/grindcore/metal band. a lot of laugh. a lot of fun. hehe.
so... drums are still in my passion to have them but sadly i have no place to have them. perhaps i will satisfy myself with some 4x4 midi keyboard or something like that.
anyway... thumbs up for purchasing these Roland edrum set. these drums look amazing.
cheers.

Just seeing this - I LOVE my HydraSynths (now have the desktop too). I like the filters, I don’t hear them as harsh at all. In fact, I don’t get the “HydraSynth = harsh” comments at all. BUT, I do love me som MelloFi plugin on lots of stuff!!!mimidancer wrote: ↑26 Apr 2024I really love my hydrasynth.
I feel like HydraSynth “has my back” - need another LFO, I got you. Need to loop those envelopes, and adjust the curve of every segment, I got you. Need to create a custom LFO shape, I got you. Macros are as powerful as a Combinator, allowing you to use one knob to do many different things at once. All FX are totally workable, no disappointments there. And so on, a well rounded “go to” synth for sure. I use only my own patches, spent the first month going nuts!!!

The Hydra is a sound designer's dream. You are so right about it swiss army knife usage. I use the LFOs envelopes and clock in my eurorack. The UI is awesome. It does not feel menu divey. It reminds me of the ESQ 1.selig wrote: ↑23 Jun 2024Just seeing this - I LOVE my HydraSynths (now have the desktop too). I like the filters, I don’t hear them as harsh at all. Nice.
I've used the MPC Live II almost exclusively for 18 months. I had considered the force as I like the Live workflow but decided to start with an MPC.
It's made me consider selling my Kontakt library and controllers because they are just gathering dust.

More studio stuff… some balanced Roland TRS-cables for the drum head (Focusrite Saffire 8i6 drops the levels for TS-cables automatically, can’t manually choose between a line-level & instrument-level signal… ), then, a K&M 23865 desktop microphone arm, feels pretty nice.
