Covid Shot and Reason
Quite right too.Tiny Montgomery wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021... don't send a chill through your body then I don't know what to say to you.
This is a recurring problem with many topics now. No actual discussion. About much of anything. Just discuss with your group. Its easier than arguing I guess.
It's interesting to me that as long as everyone agrees that we should all get vaxed up we're not discussing politics.
(As if anything related to Covid now could be not political now)
It's only when someone disagrees and a discussion starts across the fence that the thread's locking becomes imminent.
But it's not a political discussion forum. So, get youre replies in quick folks!

Tiny Montgomery wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021The vaccine is there to stop you getting seriously ill. Vaccinated people can spread COVID.
Vaccines are not a panacea. A study by the CDC showed that basic sanitation, decent infrastructure for the distribution of good food and rising material prosperity did more to eradicate measles, cholera et al than vaccines. There is till no vaccine for scarlet fever but you hardly see it these days.
Lots of things can be simultaneously true at the same time. People who have always been pro science and medicine are looking at the current discourse with suspicion, believe me.
Telling yourself that people who raise questions are all fascist trump voters or crazy uncles on Facebook might be comforting and give you that "in group" feel good glow of being a good member of your tribe but I'm afraid the situation isnt as simple as that.
If the camps in Australia and the attempted forced lockdown of the unvaccinated in Austria don't send a chill through your body then I don't know what to say to you.

Yeah, right? IT was only ever gonna go one way.
What's to discuss?
Anyway I'll say this...pfizer no.2 was a mess. I spent the night w a raging fever and I'm totally wiped out today.
Had some really far out dreams though.

I'll find out soon enough if there's even an option to mix them here when I get the appointment for the booster.Pepin wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021Personally, I stuck with Moderna for all three shots. The US govt allows mixing, but pharmacies don't always give that option when scheduling (mine didn't). I have seen some studies showing benefit from mixing though.PhillipOrdonez wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021Anyways. Did you who got boosters got the same type for the booster or did they mix them up?

Pfizer 2 was fine in my case, less pain in the arm cause I moved it a lot. It varies much between people, some like you have a hard time. I guess that the harder the reaction, the stronger the protection? ♂️
I think the discussion is fine. Of all the things posted in the kitchen... I don't see how discussing vaccines for something that has affected most of our lives so immensely has to be considered political.
But it inevitably will and this thread will inevitably be locked..the clock is already ticking.
I was also wondering this.PhillipOrdonez wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021. I guess that the harder the reaction, the stronger the protection? ♂️
Someone told me this was the case but I’ve not confirmed it.
And if your reaction is strong does that mean you have no antibodies from previous infection? That you’ve never had it?

My basic understanding is that the short term side effects are from the innate immune response (first line defense). But it's the adaptive immune response over the next few weeks that gives you lasting protection.
There seems to be no correlation between the strength of reaction (adverse effects) and the quality of acquired immunity. A lot of research has been done on this. There is a correlation between the age of a vaccine recipients and the amplitude of immunological reactions - individuals that are younger/with better functioning immune systems respond with higher reaction amplitudes/adverse reactions.plaamook wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021I was also wondering this.PhillipOrdonez wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021. That’s comforting.
Kinda wish it would wrap things up now though. My immune systems made its point.

I was riffing on the comedy of using a lower-case R to subvert the topic for comedic purposes. But if a person had a legit medical justification for declining vaccination then I would call that reasonable and I would avoid making a joke about their having "lost" the forum, whatever that might mean.

A reasonable person might guess when health is on the line people would put aside politics and rally around science, but sadly that is not the case in the US. I imagine folks are predicting the madness will splash onto this forum.

The hole made by the needle closes up and heals pretty quickly and shouldn't hurt much for long. The "junk" itself doesn't cause the pain either. However, it does instruct your cells to make stuff that resembles parts of the virus, and your immune system wages war against those. It's the war that hurts over the course of a few days. For me, it's been as long as a week. I consider it a comforting reminder that the injection seems to be having the desired effect.

Wow. Wow. Thank you for that. That was one of my earliest favorite songs of all time, and I never thought to look for a video. I used to love those late-night revue-like TV shows as well, but I think I started watching a little too late for this one.

I'd never heard of this group or song before and obviously used it as a lame joke but the more I watched the video I became fascinated by the seemingly indifference of the drummer compared to the front members giving it their all in their routineintegerpoet wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021Wow.
