Got Reason. Did not get any shots. Tested positive last sunday and well, it's like the flu. Should be fine next week.

Yeah I should take a jab because yours doesn't work. Makes perfect sense. Over my dead body.

Hmm. Well if they roll out mandatory jabs where you live (Holland if I remember correctly) you may not have to die to get em eh?

Personally I’m pretty cheesed off you can’t travel w a positive antibody test. I’m not paranoid but that’s very peculiar to me since you can get vaxed up and still catch and transmit Cv. Funny world.

Anyway, here’s a question.
So, second jab in this morning and as expected my arm is a bit sore.
So what causes that? Will the needle alone do it or do you need to pump some junk in there?
I’ve not got any experience farting around w needles so I can’t say but at a guess, jamming a needle into your arm etc should cause...something. Apart from the juice I mean.

For one brief moment, I thought 'Covid Shot' might be a new RE. (Or maybe an expansion pack for 'Antidote'.)

Just from the needle and possibly the injection too but I'd say more the needle.

Ok.
I’m extrapolating from bad splinters at work. My only reference really.

Any injection can cause soreness. The more your muscles are relaxed when the needle goes in the less sore you will be.

Yeah you gotta move your arm around to avoid soreness. I got my booster and flu shot at the same time, one in each arm. And unlike the first shots I got which left me with a sore arm, I focused on moving my arms and had no pain in either arm after doing that.

pain is one of the five principle signs of inflammation
it could be from either or both the needle (tissue/vessel damage) and bacteria getting inside. Bacteria can get there with an injection from the surface of the skin even after it's been sterilized, because it becomes re-colonized almost immediately. Infection and tissue damage pain would both feel more like a burning sensation. Don't worry, though, it's not something your body can't handle. Another reason for soreness is that inflammation also causes expansion (lat.tumor) within a group of muscles. All groups of muscles in our bodies are encased in tight sheets, called fascia, which communicate (all sorts of information, but in your case) this expansion of the muscle group to the brain in the form of pain. This is perceived more as "tension pain". If that particular group of muscles is somewhat developed (larger in volume to begin with), you are even more prone to this. You'll be fine, don't worry, and it's not the medical worker's fault. If it doesn't go away in a few days, you can improve the circulation there with movement to speed it up - Joey is quite right on that. But better give it some time first.

4 jabs and no booster yet.
I can hear my hair growing.
How does the 4 jabs-no booster thing work?
Two different vaccines?
I was thinking that. 2 jabs and another = booster, at least here in the U.K.

Hang on a moment... Are you supposed to waggle your arms around before or after the shot?

....Or DURING??? :? (No - presumably not. I can't imagine that making you popular with the medical fraternity.)

Lol following. I made sure to stretch and move my arms around following the shots and had no soreness like I did with my previous shot.

I wasn’t worried. But thanks.
The soreness is negligible really, especially compared to what I did to my knuckles at work on Tuesday, but I was curious all the same. I don’t ever stick empty syringes in my arms so no poss of an A-B comparison there.

I think trying to flap your arms while they’re giving you a shot could make things really interesting. You get some safety goggles and the nurse gets a kind of tranquilliser gun and off you go!

Hey joey, how old are you? Why did you get the flu shot?
I thought they only recommended it for over 60’s and for whatever reason I figure you’re younger than that.

I see.
In the U.K. I think it’s only recommended for older folks. I’ve certainly never heard of young’uns getting it.
Which is curious in a way.

I always thought Joey was in Australia. Don't know why. Sorry mate 🤷‍♂️

On a different note, not surprising FF is antivax. Not even slightly surprised. It fits his personality like a glove.

Anyways. Did you who got boosters got the same type for the booster or did they mix them up?

I'm not getting the flu shot. That one is for the old ones only. What I do do that actually helps immensely with that is washing my hands obsessively. Does nothing for Corona but great for preventing the flu. That plus the face mask which does help prevent the spread of both SARS cov2 and the influenza viruses.

Personally, I stuck with Moderna for all three shots. The US govt allows mixing, but pharmacies don't always give that option when scheduling (mine didn't). I have seen some studies showing benefit from mixing though.

The vaccine is there to stop you getting seriously ill. Vaccinated people can spread COVID.

Vaccines are not a panacea. A study by the CDC showed that basic sanitation, decent infrastructure for the distribution of good food and rising material prosperity did more to eradicate measles, cholera et al than vaccines. There is till no vaccine for scarlet fever but you hardly see it these days.

Lots of things can be simultaneously true at the same time. People who have always been pro science and medicine are looking at the current discourse with suspicion, believe me.

Telling yourself that people who raise questions are all fascist trump voters or crazy uncles on Facebook might be comforting and give you that "in group" feel good glow of being a good member of your tribe but I'm afraid the situation isnt as simple as that.

If the camps in Australia and the attempted forced lockdown of the unvaccinated in Austria don't send a chill through your body then I don't know what to say to you.

Actually don't get why the mods are even allowing this topic tbh. This board is depressing enough as it is without watching a load of traumatised people throw rocks at each other over something they actually know nothing about (and I mean both sides here)
