Is it just me that gets annoyed when the props say that reason is a great daw to come up with idéas?

It's like, you do you're idéas in reason and then move over to a "better" daw to finish the idéa.

That's exactly how I use it. It's a long time since I started and finished a song entirely in Reason. I use FL Studio and Live the same way. All are great for inspiration, and in different ways, but all fall short when it comes to the nitty gritty of arranging and building a finished song. All the usual stuff Arranger Track, Chord Track, Track Folders, Track Freeze etc etc.

From my perspective and since you're asking it's just you.

I have Cubase (16 years), Ableton Live (8 years) and FL Studio (8 years). My work is done in one of them exclusively. I don't combine DAWs.

Since I purchased Reason I had a lot of new ideas (no I am not running it inside Cubase). Actually now I use Ableton or Reason exclusively and I am slowly migrating and connecting my hardware studio to Reason. I still use and will continue to use Ableton because of Push2 integration. And no, those silly workarounds to make Push2 working in Reason are not for me.

Anyway I can make work done in Reason alone. Sure it does not have 100 features of other DAWs and I know this sounds cliche but really for me less is more. Reason can do exactly what I want ti to.

Yeah I agree. What about finishing things? It perpetuates the myth that Reason is a toy or for people who aren't serious about their music.

It is anoying but most companies have the same attitude. Everyone shows how easy is to create sketches, ideas or whatever using their tool, and how quick you can make a "beat" feeding your ego with another 1 minute show off on social media. How liberating!

Seriously though, I'm with ye.
It's why I still call em Props. It's like I'm clicking my little ruby red slippers cause there's no place like home...

I've finished 3 albums in Reason.
I'm so used to the work arounds I barely see em at this point.
(Just the stupid vertical top down zoom, that really cheeses me off)
That said, I sometimes go to sleep at night after a long session fantasising about how Reaon would be if it pulled it's trousers up for once.

Thing about Reaon being a toy or a real Daw...the rack is the toy, the sequencer is, or should be, the Daw. If that makes any sense. Reason is perfectly placed to be both but the Daw part is a friggin shambles of work arounds and concessions at the mo.
