This is pretty far out...

Maybe more in terms of the idea than the reality but still.
I imagine a physical web structure that you could step into and play by resonating and plucking and and pulling into different shapes. Fantasy instrument. Like what one might play the Hydrogen Sonata on (for the Iain Banks fans out there...).
I wonder if they ever read up on Ligeti who (in case no one's heard this) said the basis for his compositional style was a dream of his house being filled with a spider web. He was trying to get out but every time he touched the web it's maze like structure changed. I love that guy.
But these things...science meets music...often produce odd results.
I know many musicians who are science based either in techniquie or concept or both. I consider myself among them. But it seems that more often what gets coverage is scientists making questionable music rather than musicians getting invited to work on these sorts of ideas.
As a friend of mine said in conversation about this...Artists that think about those things and make art is seen as not equal to scientists who work with those things and make art-outcomes-that-they-call-science
basic demarcation dispute, they should get off our lawn
Anyway, interesting stuff.
