Youtube is a shitfest these days.
Money and greed always fucks things up in the end.

Youtube has become unbearable with all the ads and commercials that interrupt the flow, with its usual loudness war madness.

And so they want to push you to pay for subscription to get away from that. No way Google...

And big fishy companies now milking away in a cynical money hunger manner. Where will all this lead...the greedy want more and the content creators that brings meaningful value are robbed.
Now they dare showing me ads when I come for my charity soup. Still not gonna pay for that.

Seriously, nothing to complain about. We're not Google customers as long as we don't pay for the service, we're the commodity they sell to their real customers, ad agencies and such.

This is similar to a point I try and stress often, that maximizing profit ruins everything. It sounds harsh but I can name so many instances where good things have changed for the worse, all in the name of maximizing profit. It's usually a short ride too, milk something for all its worth... now it's crap... but a ton of money was made and celebrations are being had, round and round it goes.

I haven't seen a youtube ad in years. I used to use chrome with adblock plus extension but now I use the Brave browser on my desktop.
Use the app version on my phone also, it is good stuff in general for privacy while online.

I love Rick Beato and his amazing channel.

Youtube blows. What the F happened to it, really? It just keeps getting worse and worse. Anybody notice how their suggested videos and playlists have gotten terrible? If I put something on autoplay 5 years ago, I would always end up on some completely different video topic (and it would usually be interesting). But these days, I put it on autoplay and after a couple of videos it goes into this video loop where it is either playing the same 2 or 3 songs over and over, or it shows me some video I've already seen. And it's usually the same video they've thrown at me 20 times.

On top of that, the way they have been treating youtubers is kind of messed up. Reminds me of the way ebay treats its sellers.
And the fact that these educations videos can't legitimately claim fair use is terrible. Youtube needs to make some changes (back to the way it used to be).

It would be nice to see some good competition to youtube. What is there, vimeo, daily motion, steemit... needs more competition.

I also love Brave browser and their crytocurrency BAT (basic attention token). It's a great concept to put advertising revenue in the hands of the consumers and content providers. It's a solid crypto currency for investing, too. STEEM is another one. And since we are talking about youtube, Steemit.com is a youtube competitor. If you haven't heard of it, check it out. It's another great idea using crypto currency (STEEM). I've made some great gains on both of these currencies so far in 2020. :)

I guess it all makes much more sense if you're one of the people cleaning up from this sort of crap.
I'm never one of those people.

Just install an add blocker. uBlock Origin works fantastic. There are a few choices.

Haven't watched a YouTube add in forever.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Oops, is that a copyright violation writing that?

The publishers actually benefit from more people posting more videos. The more views those videos get, the more money they make. So even if a listener never goes to the "official" video, they can still make money from cases like Rick Beato has described. All those instructional videos demonstrating how to play songs are making money for the publishers.

This is great if you are a big name artist and not so great if you are some underground performer with no resources to protect your publishing. Just like it's always been with radio. Yawn...no surprise here.
