I hate them. They infest entertainment. Obviously they work or you wouldn't see so many of them.

You can't escape them. Youtube is flooded with them. CBS all access has them, I'm surprised that Netflix doesn't have them yet.

And they are mostly SO BAD, it's just one flood of eyerolls. Misleading, fake, made up garbage to get you to buy bad food and drink like a fish.

I haven't seen a commercial in 7 years. No TV. Ad blocker on Firefox then. Now using Brave browser (ad blocker is built in) for at least 2 years.

TV belongs to the 20th century. Old and useless.

Good luck getting unplugged.

Dumb industry pays so much money for commercials i never see and won't work. They just believe it would. The more they believe, the more expensive it gets and they believe even more due to personal profile commercials.

As asked said, AdBlocker, skip commercials on TV, don't read magazines, and if some commercial reached me i instantly start hating that company and buy less.

What's more important to you: watching commercials and complain about it forever, or not watching commercials ever again?
Your choice.

Same. No tv and addblocker.

I lived in London for 15 yrs (the dark days) where there's a lot of shit that just floods in. Now I live...elsewhere. But when I go back to London I find the level of shit coming at you overwhelming. I put on the cans and tune it all out whenever possible but still its interesting how you can just normalise that crap.

Now you get this shit from websites saying they can see how I'm usung an add blocker but adds are how they make money etc. Makes me wonder if there's a better other way of sharing out some money for things like that. Not a subscription cause I don't really bother with the same places too much. More like a quick 10p to read an article or something.

It is a very new concept, it is about rewarding the publishers directly. Will it work? I don't know but browsing the web with Brave is a smooth experience. Look it up on Youtube, reviews.

AGAIN, NO ADBLOCKER FOR PS3. I repeat NO ADBLOCKER FOR PS3. I'm stuck with idiotic stupid commercials or don't watch youtube on the tube.

As far as the other goes, I watch TV, thank you very much. I didn't realize so many people get kinda uppity about that.

Commercials suck.

It’s not about being uppity. I just moved out of my mums house 27yrs ago and never bought one. I traveled a lot.

My girlfriend has attention deficit disorder and she says there are better things to do.

We don't have any networking in the house and I'm living off my prepaid mobile device with no hotspot.

I brought my laptop to work tonight to authorize the new smart:comp plugin from Sonible. I had to buy it up front because I can't demo without Internet. Aw shucks. :rabbit:

You know whats even more stupid
Here in the uk we have one company that doesnt have adverts at all “the BBC “
You may think thats a good thing right ?
WRONG
You have to pay something called a tv licence just for these poxy channels whether you watch tv or not
How stupid is that so if you used it for making music ,
Nope still gotta pay a tv licence
I dont watch live tv so refuse to pay which is bad because u could go court , but I would try and prove and say listen i dont want your poxy bbc channels anyway stick them up you arse 😂
So in that way commericals are good because they save me money because i dont watch them anyway

TV license here in Sweden too. About 6 months ago they integrated it into tax payments so you don’t even miss it and and everyone contributes.

I don't know what I hate the most, if commercials or every single company trying to sell us subscription plans and if you don't pay, abuse commercials.

I used to think youtube at least had a good choice when putting commercials that matched your likes, but they are now kind of abusing that and starting to put two commercials in a row or giving a higher length value to commercials you cannot step over. Such things are for me always a reason NOT to subscribe to their services but rather stop using them at all. I can accept them using commercials but abusing users that don't want to pay a subscription works for me in the complete opposite way they try with such tactics.

Same applies to services like soundcloud, which have a very bad random calculation on when to put commercials between songs, sometimes you get a commercial every three songs, sometimes not a single one while listening to 15 songs... but the worst thing is that they put really annoying commercials, you're listening to some relaxing music while working and in the middle you get an annoying screaming voice telling you to hurry to the supermarket and get the newest vacuum cleaner before it's sold out, awful...

Can people with disabilities that preclude them from watching TV opt-out, or pay a fraction of the TV tax in Sweden?

Let's say you were born blind, became blind after an accident, or an illness, or any other types of disabilities I can't think of. Do you still have to pay the TV Tax?

At least if you pay a TV tax the good thing is you have zero TV commercials.

Both tv and radio are seen as a public service and an important part of democracy in Sweden. I guess if you’re blind you can listen to the radio. The tax is income based. People under a threshold are entitled to a reduction and students are not eligible to pay the tax. The change in legislation came about after a realization that fewer and fewer people own televisions but instead access media through PCs, telephones, streaming services etc.
