I'm gonna get those in-ear ones (mentioned in that one headphone thread) when I can. I'm all for detail and maximum stereo field, even if we apparently can hear a bit less dynamics.
However, I'm working on a rather technical mastering/pre-mastering/design/EQing. Where the listener will be able to perfectly shape things to their own taste with just an EQ. But it also goes to maximally using the stereo field, and expanding dynamics maximally as well - whatever is digitally possible. So there would just be digital limitations (think ~ dBFS for example).
