Hi All!

Does anybody know where the sound at 0:52s is from in this mix?

It was also (I think) used in a rave / house track in the late 80's early 90's too. If anyone can remember which track that was I'd be chuffed.

I know the oriental sound from the first track is from the Emulator II Disc 22 Loon Garden sample library.

Thanks!

According to a poster on discogs:

Boy do I love Conquest Paradise ! There's IMO a very wise use of risky samples (whale shout, pan flute that usually scream CHEESE all over eurotrance mediocre tracks) to create a fantastic atmosphere during the break, leading afterward to a memorable warm, goldy melody. Yes, PARADISE. A real gem to play ;)

It does sound like a whale sound of sorts. It may be a place to start looking at least :)

You're right it does sound like a whale sound now you come to mention it. Only 2 sounds come up in Reason under "Whale" though." Whale Calls" Combinator patch and "Whale Pad" which is used in the combinator. Nothing like what I'm looking for but nice sounds though.nts

Someone in the comments for that tune on You Tube said they used to call it "dolphin" song so I wonder if it may be a dolphin sound but do dolphins make a sound?

This sounds a little similar, I think. Some pitching and efx and you should be able to get even closer. Probably not the best source, though.

Dolphins do make sounds, but I'm not sure if they use infrasound like the whales do. I think those whale sounds are pitched up to be audible.

Sorry that was a dumb answer from me. Course dolphins make a sound. It's like a clicking type sound. It's definitely a whale sound then.

Thanks for the clip. Sounds very close. I'll see what I can do with it.

I really got into whale stuff because of this! I even found a free whale table synth: http://www.whalesynth.com/ :)

Also, a better video:
