I actually live very near those ones on Denge Marsh and have visited them a few times.

They weren't that effective and by the time planes had speeded up in the '30's the short amount of early warning they provided meant they were obsolete, luckily Radar came along before the real test did.

That was a pretty interesting history lesson. Thanks.
