Ok. So on my 2012 13" BMP running OSX 10.13 there are these features that you cannot alter even in Terminal.
Hibernatemode, standbydelay, and acwake. There may be more in power management settings but these are the ones I've tried.
Hibernate is forced after few hours of sleep regardless of setting it to hibernatemode 0
Standbydelay changes are ignored. Again, if you change the delay time (in seconds) to 24 hrs it still hibernates after only a few hours.
Acwake wakes the machine from sleep (and the disc) if you change it's power source by unplugging it. Set it to acwake 0 in pmset and it continues doing its thing. (I'm still trying to figure out the purpouse to this function at all)

I actually asked apple about this ages back when it was just the acwake problem and my comp was still under warrentee and they gave me some old shit about how I wasn't supposed to be mucking around in Terminal anyway. (Was this reply helpful to you?...)

I've tried disableing System Integrity Protection and changing the settings but with the same result.

And I can't find anything on the interwebs about this. AND it's the second comp I've had this on (at least the acwake problem) so its not the machine.

Anyone?

Not sure if I got the actual problem - is it that the computer doesn't pick up / store the values you set? Are these new machines or is there any chance that somebody installed a new EFI BIOS or something to make it run better with Linux/Windows/what have you?

Correct. Comp doesn't pick up/store the values.
Both new machines. Though there is only one current one.

You do use the commands with "sudo" though, yeah?

Ok so...
While no one seems interested in this I'll post my findings for posterity.

autopoweroff 0 stops OSX from forced hibernation after a few hours of sleep BUT acwake 0 is still ignored and this seems to be a bug as changing the settings for it doesn't change the behavior. I'd still like to know why there is even a function that wakes your comp when you change the power source but nevermind.

Anyway heere's a link to a thread that addresses this in more depth...
